Hello Grace Vineyard Family and Friends,

Welcome to October!

I’ve been thinking this week about how much trust the Lord places in His disciples.  Perhaps it’s more that He trusts in His own ability to work in us, but still it has the feel of Him entrusting a lot of really important things to us.   I’m thinking, for example, of the story in Luke 10 where Jesus “now chose seventy-two other disciples and sent them ahead in pairs to all the towns and places he planned to visit.”  We don’t even get to know the name of these 72 other disciples.  Apparently Jesus was going to soon be ministering in at least 36 different towns and places, and he sends these folks out as His advance team, representing Him and sharing His message on His behalf.  They are to heal the sick and tell people the message about the Kingdom of God.  (you might want to give Luke 10 a quick read right now.) Have you ever sent someone to speak to others on your behalf…to represent you?  You put a lot of trust in people when you do that, and that’s what Jesus does with people like you and me.  That’s the kind of trust I’m thinking about, and it’s really quite an honor.  God not only loves you immensely, He trusts you with the precious treasure of His Word and His works.  He has entrusted to us the very Words of Life!  I’ve also been hearing in my spirit quite frequently the words from the parable of the prodigal son, where the Father tells the older son, “My son, you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.”  I keep hearing those words with an invitation to pray from that foundation.  To make a lot of requests of our Father in heaven who reminds us that we are always in close relationship with Him and He wants us to ask Him for everything we need and even for things we want.  What a loving, generous, wonderful God we serve.

Right now I’m in Tehachapi for a Vineyard pastor’s summit for the Southern California Region.  I’m here with Steve Rogers and Willie Register and we are having a great time getting some practical equipping.  It’s just a quick two day conference and we’ll be back in Oceanside on Friday night.  Then Saturday morning Kim and I are going to Catalina to spend a couple days with Kevin and Shannon Frye!  We’re really looking forward to some great fellowship with these dear friends.  While we’re gone, I have a very special surprise for you…

Snake and Michelle This Sunday!

I’ve invited Snake and Michelle to “team teach”!   Get ready for a fun, funny, and very dynamic presentation of the Word of God.  Their message is called “Against All Odds”, and you know it’s going to be doubly powerful with both of them.  I would definitely use this opportunity to invite friends to be with you!  If you are not able to be with us in person this Sunday, you can always join online via the Zoom app with this info:  Zoom Meeting ID  153 112 432, Passcode 684814. You may also join us on Facebook Live at facebook.com/gracevcf.

Encounter Night 2024

Get ready for Encounter Night 2024, on Sunday,  November 3 at the Oceanside Pier Amphitheater.   Encounter Night is a night of worship and prayer put on by the churches of San Diego at the Oceanside Pier Amphitheater.  It starts at 6pm on Sunday night, November 3, and it sounds like it’s going to be awesome.  There will be a combined worship band with singers and instrumentalists from a bunch of different churches in San Diego.  There will also be worship led by Chris Quilala. This will be a great time of unity among the churches of San Diego, gathering with just one purpose – to exalt the name of Jesus!

And that’s it for this week’s update email.  I hope you have a great weekend!

with love and blessings,

Ron Ohst
