Hello Grace Vineyard Family and Friends of Grace,
I hope you’ve had another great week in beautiful San Diego! I’ve walked down from the church office to the ocean a couple times this week, and I am THANKFUL to be living here! (Okay, it’ might have gotten just a little bit warmer than my preference this week, but just barely 🙂 ) There is so much beauty surrounding us.
Speaking of beauty and the outdoors, LADIES, it’s time for your monthly ladies walk.
Monthly Ladies Walk Saturday at 9am

Ladies, our monthly ladies walk will be at Batiquitos Lagoon this Saturday, March 14th. Meet at the Batiquitos Lagoon Nature Center, 7380 Gabbiano Lane, in Carlsbad at 9am. Please text or call Kathy Green if you plan to join the ladies at 760-583-1779. Kim always goes on these, and every time she does she comes back with a great report about how enjoyable the fellowship was. This is really a great way to get to know your sisters at Grace and get some nice exercise along the way. You also enjoy the beauty of God’s creation. I call that a Win-Win-Win.
Men’s Breakfast Saturday 9am at Grace Vineyard

Also on Saturday, March 14, BACON! Men, it’s time for our monthly men’s breakfast, and the guys doing the cooking keep upping their game. Last month we had French Toast, scrambled eggs, country fried potatoes, and all the bacon you could eat. We’ll have something like that this week too, we’ll worship together, and our own Jessie Bass is going to open the Bible with us. It all starts at 8am on the terrace in the back of the church. See you there.
Let’s Talk About Alpha
Please, take 2 minutes, 44 seconds to watch this video:
Did you watch it? We’d love to build a core team to host an Alpha group. Alpha helps create space for honest conversation around some of life’s biggest questions through a series of interactive sessions. The sessions are designed to provide guests with an opportunity to share thoughts, ideas and opinions in a safe and caring environment. Alpha has impacted countless lives around the world, and we’d like to bring it to North County. Shannon Frye has a vision to lead a group here. She and Kevin led one on Catalina Island when they were living there. On Sunday morning, right before I bring the message, she’ll cast a vision for what it would like and what it would take. The Lord might be calling you to join the team and help make it happen, so come with your heart open to what the Lord is calling you to do. If you’d like to learn more before Sunday morning, check out this link: alphausa.org
Mom 2 Mom is March 27

Are you a mom in need of support from other moms? Or are you a mom who has been there and wants to lend your support to others? Then you are welcome to Mom 2 Mom, a peer to peer and mentoring group designed to uplift, enrich, share and connect moms. We’ll gather Friday, March 27th at 6pm at Grace Vineyard on the terrace for a program that will include sharing a meal, connecting and inspiration. This month, we will hear from a couple of fantastic young adults who were raised by single/struggling moms. Childcare will be provided- please let Sheri know how many kids/what ages. To find out more, call Sheri Winter at 760-208-8403.
Men – It’s Time To Register For Our Men’s Retreat

Hey Men – here’s the Retreat info I’ve been repeating for the last several weeks, but before I get to it, let me say this: Don’t Let Money Stop You From Going This Year! We do have some scholarship money available, so if you need a hand, send us a message, and we can probably make it happen. We men are going up to Palomar Mountain in just a few weeks, on Friday, March 27-Sunday, March 29th for another one of our EPIC men’s retreats. Palomar Christian Conference Center is really pretty awesome with lots of activities for our free time like zip line, skeet shooting with shot guns, horseback riding, hiking trails, rifle range, archery, paintball, and more. And it’s in a beautiful mountain retreat center. If you’ve never been, check out their webpage at palomar.camp. And that’s just the location. We’ll also have amazing times of worship, teaching, and prayer. Our men’s retreats at PCCC have always been incredible, and I’m so glad we’ll be returning in the Spring. They having 2 styles of housing accommodations – dorm rooms and hotel style. The Dorm Rooms will cost $230, and the Hotel Style rooms will cost $285. This will include all the food for the weekend too. See Steve Rogers for more more information. You can contact him via text at (760) 500-4324, email him at or srogers@gracevcf.org. If you’re ready, here’s where you can pay online:
However you do it, please don’t let anymore time pass before you register. I’m looking forward to a great time with all my Grace Vineyard brothers!
On the Road to Resurrection, Week 2

Last week we began a series of messages that is planned to take us right up to Resurrection Sunday on April 5. The resurrection of Jesus was a pivotal moment in the history of the world. It marked the inauguration of New Creation. Paul called Jesus’ resurrection “the firstfruits” of the resurrection of all who have died (see 1 Corinthians 15). But it goes farther than that, because it’s also the firstfruits of the New Creation, that is, God’s promised renewing of all things. This is all part of God’s plan to redeem our planet from the reign of death that was unleashed when our forefather’s sinned in the garden of Eden. There’s a turning point in the Gospels, recorded at Luke 9:51 with these words: “As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set his face to go to Jerusalem.” Jesus had begun His journey on the road to resurrection. His road was marked by Kingdom ministry, healing the sick, making disciples, lifting the oppressed, feeding the hungry, and ultimately laying down His life on a cross for those He loves. It’s a road marked by the cross, but the end of that road was His resurrection and ascension to the right hand of the Father. And Jesus has called us to pretty much the same road. It’s marked by joy, it’s marked by sacrificial love for others, it’s marked by Kingdom ministry, and it’s marked by us taking up our cross daily, but the end is resurrection both for us and for our world. We’re spending the 5 Sundays beginning last week and leading right up to Easter Sunday exploring this topic, and this Sunday we’ll jump in to week 2, which I am calling “The Road of Empowered Witness”. Here’s last week’s sermon on our Youtube channel and on our Gracetalks.org podcast.
We hope to see you in person on Sunday morning so we can all worship together, but if you can’t make it in person, you can join us online on Zoom with this link Zoom Meeting ID 153 112 432, Passcode 684814 and you can also find our livestream on Facebook Live at facebook.com/gracevcf.
Have a great Saturday.
Blessings to each of you,
Ron Ohst
