Eddie and Bethany Roach are going to be with us, bringing this Sunday’s message, “Confident in the Good News”, and will share stories from Cambodia that remind us why the gospel gives us hope and strength we can count on!” This is gonna be awesome!

Benevolence Fund

I’d like to take a minute to remind you that we have a benevolence fund to help us serve the needs of many people both here in our own church and around the globe.  You’ve probably heard the term “tithes and offerings”.   It’s part of the practice of generosity, and I would encourage everyone to join me in tithing (giving 10% of my income to the church) and giving offerings (donating money beyond my tithes to any number of important needs — missions, helping the poor, supporting local charities and nonprofits like C4C, and more).  If this is new to you, it’s probably going to require exercising some faith because just about everybody I know in California is already stretched thin financially.  But I can tell you from the scriptures and from personal experience and from the stories of friends, that God seems to always provide when we step out in faith to give, and usually provides more than we gave.  Here’s just one of many scriptures that speak to this principle:

2 Corinthians 9:6-10 (New Living Translation)

6 Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. 7 You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” 8 And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. 9 As the Scriptures say,

“They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.”

10 For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you.

I’d recommend you enter into giving offerings with prayer, and give in response to God’s promptings (not out a sense of pressure or guilt, but joyfully in faith).

And that’s it for this week’s Weekly Update.  Have a great weekend, and I’ll see on on Sunday morning!

with blessings and love,

Ron Ohst

Tithes and Offerings Online

THANKS for taking ownership in the life and ministry of Grace Vineyard!  And thanks to all of you who are stepping into a lifestyle of generosity with your tithes and offerings.  It really does take all of us doing our part with the income God has entrusted to us for His church. If you’d like to give your tithe or offering online, click the donate button below.  If you’re giving to a specific fund (like benevolence or missions), just be sure to say that when you are given an option to say “what this donation is for”.
