September 6, 2025

Hello Grace Vineyard Family and Friends.

It is Saturday evening, so if I’m going to send you a Weekly Update this week, I better get on it!  I hope you’ve had a good week so far. This week – the days following Labor Day –  always feels like a transitional week for me.  It feels like summer is officially over (even though it really is not officially over until Fall 2025 starts on September 22) and you can especially feel it in downtown Oceanside.  The summer visitors all but disappear, and the beaches are more sand than people, and students are getting into the routine of a new school year. It definitely feels quieter.  It’s a good time to pause and reflect on the goodness of God and the wonders of His Grace, and the blessing of His Presence through every season.  I hope you experiencing and enjoying His nearness.  Here’s the latest news and announcements you’ll want to know about life in the Grace Vineyard family:

Parables of the Kingdom

The last 2 Sundays we were together, our sermon topic was “Guarding the Message of Grace”.  More than once I’ve found myself applying the principles of those 2 messages in conversations with people inside and outside our church family.  It has seemed very apropros.  When I prayed about what we should be learning together next, I heard the phrase “parables of the Kingdom” in my Spirit.  The central message of Jesus was The Kingdom of God (in Matthew’s Gospel, Matthew uses the phrase “The Kingdom of Heaven” to mean the same thing), and one of Jesus’ most common methods for communicating the truths about the Kingdom of God was to tell parables.  Several of these parables are recorded in the 13th chapter of Matthew and the 4th chapter of Mark, if you’d like to take a look.  Tomorrow we’ll dive into some of the Parables of the Kingdom and see what we learn together. We hope to be with you in person on Sunday morning starting at 9:30, but if you’re not able to be with us in person,  you can join us online on Zoom with this link: Zoom Meeting ID  153 112 432, Passcode 684814.  You can also find our livestream on Facebook Live at facebook.com/gracevcf.

If you’d like to hear last weeks talk on Guarding the Message of the Gospel, you can watch it here on our Youtube channel:
