Hello Grace Vineyard Family and Friends!

Wow.  Can you believe we are already going into the last weekend of June?   Amazing.  Saturday afternoon is turning into Saturday evening, so it’s definitely time (or past time!) for me to get to my weekly update.  Here’s what’s going on in our Grace Vineyard family…

Graduation/Promotion Party This Sunday after Church

This Sunday,  right after the Sunday morning service, we’ll have a party with cake and drinks to celebrate everyone who’s graduating from college, or high school, or middle school, or being promoted from 5th grade into middle school.  If you know anybody that fits that description, please make sure they know we want to acknowledge their accomplishments tomorrow.  Who doesn’t love a Party?!!

The God Who Dwells

The Bible reveals God as one who loves to dwell with His people. In the beginning He walked with Adam and Eve in the garden.  After Adam’s and Eve’s sin forced them out of the Garden, God had His people build a tabernacle and later a temple where Heaven would intersect earth and God could dwell with people.  When the temple was destroyed (again because of sin) the promise was made of a new temple.  Then Jesus came and “tabernacled” among us, making His dwelling with mankind.  After Jesus ascended to heaven, He created a “Living Temple” made up of people as the dwelling place of His Spirit.  And the Bible ends with this promise: “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.”  (Revelation 21:3).  This theme of God making provision to dwell closely, intimately with people is found throughout the Bible.  This Sunday at Grace Vineyard we start a 3 week series learning about The God Who Dwells.  I hope you can join us tomorrow in person at 9:30 am, but if you can’t be there, here’s the info you need to join us online: join us online on Zoom with this link Zoom Meeting ID  153 112 432, Passcode 684814 and you can also find our livestream on Facebook Live at facebook.com/gracevcf.

Last Sunday was Father’s Day, and I brought a message I called “God’s Message to You on Father’s Day”.  If you were looking for the Gracetalks.org podcast or YouTube video of that message, I got you covered right here…

Mission to Zambia starts July 19

On Sunday, July 19, I am flying to Zambia where I’ll be bouncing all over the place until August 17th.  This is quite an involved missions trip, and I would love you to know all the details so you can be praying for our teams.  When you have a few extra minutes, check out the details at gracevcf.org/zambia2026.  Let me emphasize the prayer part again! During the first phase of the trip, 3 of us will be going into rural areas of the country, ministering in Vineyard churches.  It’s hard for Westerners to understand sometimes, but in these areas away from the more modern cities, there is a lot of dark spiritual activity, a lot of anscestor worship, witch doctors, etc.  We really need your prayer covering.

New Practicing the Way Prayer Practice Group Starts July 6

We are loving the Practicing the Way studies.  If you are unfamiliar with this body of work, check out their website (www.practicingtheway.org) Under the leadership of John Mark Comer, they have provided a pathway for apprenticeship to Jesus (“apprenticeship” is just another way of saying discipleship).  They have a number of small group resources, including a general 8 week introduction to the concepts of Practicing The Way (we’ve offered this twice now, and we’ll probably offer it again before too long), plus a number of 4 week courses that look at the individual practices.  On Monday, July 6th, we will start a 4 week group that will focus on the practice of prayer as modelled by Jesus.  To quote their website, “The practice of prayer is learning to set aside dedicated time to intentionally be with God in order to become like Him and partner with Him in the world.”  We’ll be meeting at Jeannie Isbell’s home at 3305 Belle Lane in  Carlsbad on Mondays at 6pm for 4 weeks. There is a workbook to go along with the course, and that costs $15.  Please text Kim Ohst at 760-519-4558 to let her know if you plan to attend and if you need a book.  There will also be a sign up table in the lobby.  You can learn more about what this group will be like at https://www.practicingtheway.org/prayer.

Better Together Conference July 21-23 in New Jersey

A transformational gathering for leaders ready to cultivate deeper community and sustainable spiritual health

While I’m super excited about the missions trip to Zambia, there is one sad part…I will be out of the country for “Better Together”. I would really love to go this conference, July 21-23.  I’m hoping some of you will go and tell me all about it!  You can learn all the details and register at bettertogether.vineyardusa.org.  Please check it out.

Ladies One Day Conference Saturday, September 26th 9am-5pm

This announcement is just for the ladies: You’re invited to join us at the Vineyard Yorba Linda’s Standing Firm one day conference.  Anita Ruis, David Ruis’s wife, will be the speaker.  We’ll meet at the church to carpool at 7:30am and leave at 7:45.  Cost is $40 and includes breakfast and lunch.  Here’s the link to register:https://vineyardyorbalinda.churchcenter.com/registrations/events/3598139  Kim told me she’s going, so you know it’s going to be good!   I’ve heard nothing but great things about Anita Ruis. She and her husband David are the national directors of the Vineyard Canada, and they have a very rich history in the body of Christ.  I hope you all will take advantage of this great opportunity.

That’s all for this week’s Weekly Update.  See you in the morning.

With love and blessings to each of you,

Ron Ohst
