Hello, Grace Vineyard Family and Friends,

It’s another beautiful Spring Saturday afternoon in Oceanside as I write this week’s Weekly Update email.  It’s looking like we’re going to have perfect weather for this year’s Father’s Day celebrations.

God’s Message to You on Father’s Day

On Sunday morning we’ll take a moment to honor all the dads on Father’s Day.  We got a little gift for the dads, and I’ll be brining a message called “God’s Message to You on Father’s Day”.  Can we possibly know what God would say to us on Father’s Day?  Well, I think we’ve got some good ground to stand on, cuz Jesus came to reveal the Father and Jesus said, “I don’t speak on my own authority. The Father who sent me has commanded me what to say and how to say it. And I know his commands lead to eternal life; so I say whatever the Father tells me to say.” (John 12:49-50) So we actually have the words that God the Father wants to say to us.  How cool is that?!!

I hope you can join us tomorrow in person at 9:30 am, but if you can’t be there, here’s the info you need to join us online: join us online on Zoom with this link Zoom Meeting ID  153 112 432, Passcode 684814 and you can also find our livestream on Facebook Live at facebook.com/gracevcf.

Last week I brought the 4th message in our series on prayer, which I called “Prayer, an Invitation into Deep Friendship with God.”  If you’d like to hear, watch, or share that message with a friend, here it is on our Gracetalks.org podcast and on our Youtube Channel:

Graduation/Promotion Party

Next Sunday, June 28th, right after the Sunday morning service, we’ll have a party with cake and drinks to celelbrate everyone who’s graduating from college, or high school, or middle school, or being promoted from 5th grade into middle school.  If you know anybody that fits that description, please text or call Kim Ohst at 760-519-4558 so we make sure not to forget them!

New Practicing the Way Prayer Practice Group Starts July 6

We are loving the Practicing the Way studies.  If you are unfamiliar with this body of work, check out their website (www.practicingtheway.org) Under the leadership of John Mark Comer, they have provided a pathway for apprenticeship to Jesus (“apprenticeship” is just another way of saying discipleship).  They have a number of small group resources, including a general 8 week introduction to the concepts of Practicing The Way (we’ve offered this twice now, and we’ll probably offer it again before too long), plus a number of 4 week courses that look at the individual practices.  On Monday, July 6th, we will start a 4 week group that will focus on the practice of prayer as modelled by Jesus.  To quote their website, “The practice of prayer is learning to set aside dedicated time to intentionally be with God in order to become like Him and partner with Him in the world.”  We’ll be meeting at Jeannie Isbell’s home at 3305 Belle Lane in  Carlsbad on Mondays at 6pm for 4 weeks. There is a workbook to go along with the course, and that costs $15.  Please text Kim Ohst at 760-519-4558 to let her know if you plan to attend and if you need a book.  There will also be a sign up table in the lobby.  You can learn more about what this group will be like at https://www.practicingtheway.org/prayer.

Mom 2 Mom is Friday, June 26

Are you a mom in need of support from other moms? Or are you a mom who has been there and wants to lend your support to others?  Then you are welcome to Mom 2 Mom, a peer to peer and mentoring group designed to uplift, enrich, share and connect moms.  We’ll gather Friday, June 26yh at 6pm at Grace Vineyard on the terrace for a program that will include sharing a meal, connecting, and inspiration.  Childcare will be provided- please let Sheri know how many kids/what ages.  To find out more, call Sheri Winter at 760-208-8403.

Ladies One Day Conference Saturday, September 26th 9am-5pm

This announcement is just for the ladies: You’re invited to join us at the Vineyard Yorba Linda’s Standing Firm one day conference.  Anita Ruis, David Ruis’s wife, will be the speaker.  We’ll meet at the church to carpool at 7:30am and leave at 7:45.  Cost is $40 and includes breakfast and lunch.  Here’s the link to register:https://vineyardyorbalinda.churchcenter.com/registrations/events/3598139  Kim told me she’s going, so you know it’s going to be good!   I’ve heard nothing but great things about Anita Ruis. She and her husband David are the national directors of the Vineyard Canada, and they have a very rich history in the body of Christ.  I hope you all will take advantage of this great opportunity.

Enjoy the rest of your Saturday, and I hope to see you in the morning.

With love and blessings for each of you,

Ron Ohst
