Good afternoon, Grace Vineyard Family and Friends,
It’s another beautiful Spring weekend in Oceanside. In fact, I’m feeling like this May is even nicer than usual. (We usually have “May Gray” followed by “June Gloom”, but it seems to me like this May has had more clear and sunny days without those long, gray mornings. Have you noticed? ) It’s a full and fun month, for sure! We had Mother’s Day last Sunday, and next week we’ll have Memorial Day, and then, at the end of the month, the big one for our family – Bryce and Andrea’s wedding! We really do have so much to thank God for, don’t we?!
Prayer – The Key that Unlocks Every Door

Tomorrow I feel led to explore the topic of prayer with you. The theme that we’ll work from tomorrow is “Prayer – the key that unlocks every door”. I’m hoping that if any of us feels like prayer is an obligation that just feels really difficult, we’ll see it more as an invitation into a rich, life giving relationship that is hard to resist. I look forward to seeing you in person tomorrow, but if you can’t be with us in person, here’s the info you need to join us online: join us online on Zoom with this link Zoom Meeting ID 153 112 432, Passcode 684814 and you can also find our livestream on Facebook Live at facebook.com/gracevcf.
And for those of you who are looking for the links to last week’s “The Value of Honor” sermon, here they are.
and our YouTube channel:
Memorial Day Weekend BBQ-Potluck

We love sharing meals together, so if you haven’t noticed, we try to have an all church potluck once every quarter. The next date that worked on our calendar happened to be next Sunday, May 24, which falls on Memorial Day Weekend, so we’re going to make it a Hot Dog and Hamburger day. Since the church has a BlackStone grill for our men’s breakfasts now, we’re going to provide the Hot Dogs and Hamburgers, and ask that you just bring a side dish. Sign up in the lobby after church to let us know what you plan on bringing. You could also send a text to Steve Rogers at 760-500-4324 to let him know.
This Sunday Night – Sanctuary

Join us Sunday evening for a night of food and worship. “Sanctuary” is a community of Grace Vineyard that gathers around the table for a meal and conversation. Followed by worship through music and a message. We start at 6p.m. every Sunday night. Hope to see you ![]()
Speaking of shared meals…
That’s a BBQ and an evening meal on Sunday. Did you know that we also have a home group that gathers around a meal every week for fellowship and prayer and mutual encouragement?

Every Wednesday even at 6:30, Tommy and Bri Mok open up their home to guests who share a meal, share their lives, open up the Bible, and make time to pray for each other. That sounds a lot like the very first Christians described in Acts 2:42 – “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
While we’re talking about small groups, let’s add 2 more:
Tuesday Night Hope Street Home Group

This one is hosted and led by Kent and Susan Franke every Tuesday night in their home at 2638 Hope Street in Oceanside. People show up at 6:30 for snacks and fellowship, and then they launch into worship and a time in the Word at 7pm.
We also have Thursday nights in the church lobby:
This one is led by Matt Evans. People start showing up at 6:30 and worship begins at 7:00PM

If you are not participating in a small group, this is my invitation to you. There’s an opportunity for you on Sunday night, Tuesday night, Wednesday night, and Thursday night. I hope one of those works for you!
After Church Prayer This Sunday

This Sunday, right after church, we’ll be meeting on the Terrace for a 1 hour Prayer Meeting. Shannon Frye will be leading us this week. Come join us as we bring before the Lord the needs of our city and our church. Remember, Prayer is the key that unlocks every door. Let’s unlock some doors together!
And that’s it for this week’s “Weekly Update”. Enjoy the rest of your Saturday!
Love and Blessings to each of you,
Ron Ohst
