Hello Grace Vineyard Family and Friends.

And HAPPY MOTHER’S DAYS to all your mothers!!  We love you!

It has been a full Saturday. I started out the morning at a great Men’s Breakfast.  Joel Incorvaia was in the house…the Burgerhouse… bringing us a great word on God’s Provision in Times of Trouble.  And then a little later in the afternoon a bunch of us went over to the Family Recover Center to put on our Blessing Dinner, and it was very lovely indeed.  Thank you to all who cooked delicious food, set up tables with beautiful settings, and served food, and all you men in your black pants and white shirts looking like the gentlemen you are as you escorted the ladies to dinner.  The ladies were very blessed!

Since it’s already after 7pm on Saturday let me keep this on the short side.  Just want to start by giving you a little preview of what’s up for tomorrow morning:

The Revelation of God’s Heart in His Creation of Motherhood

Tomorrow is Mother’s Day.  We will be honoring all the mothers who join us, giving each of you a beautiful red rose.  Then I’m going to bring a message looking at how God reveals His own heart in His creation of Motherhood.  Did you know that God’s Creation reflects His glory?  That you can learn a lot about God just by paying attention to His creation?  Here’s what the Bible says about that:

Psalms 19:1-4

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.  2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.  3 There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.  4 Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.

and

Romans 1:20 NLT

Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

This is especially true of us – humans, that is – who are made in the image of God.  There are many places in the Bible where God uses the image of fatherhood to describe Himself, and there are many places were God uses the image of motherhood to describe Himself as well.  Since it’s Mother’s Day, I’m going to take us to some of the scriptures that use the beautiful attributes of motherhood to describe God.  I hope to see you at 9:30 for worship, but if you can’t be with us in person, here’s the link for the Zoom channel: Zoom Meeting ID  153 112 432, Passcode 684814, and here’s where you would go for the Facebook Live channel: facebook.com/gracevcf.

Last week we had a wonderful time together with the teaching ministry of Ted Lawler.  He was speaking on the work of the Holy Spirit in the church today, and if you missed it, or would just like to hear it again, here it is on our YouTube channel:

Here’s a few events coming up that I’d love for you to know about:

The Bishop’s Sip Concert+Live Recording May 17

Finally, I’d like to tell you about an event taking place in our building next Saturday, May 17th.  Some of you will remember the names Roy and Christina Inzunza.  They have been guest worship leaders for us at least a couple times over the years.  They just love our people and our beautiful theater.  Well, in addition to being worship leaders, they also have a little jazz band that plays in the San Diego area.
They’re called The Bishop’s Sip.  They are going to be doing a live recording in our Grace Theater on Saturday night, May 17th and we’re all invited.  The show is free.  They will have a number of guest artists as well as their own band, so if you like jazz with gospel undertones, you’d probably love this show.  All the info you need is right here: The Bishop’s Sip Concert+Live Recording.

And with that, I’ll let you get back to your Saturday evening.  See you in the morning!

With love and blessings to each of you,
Ron Ohst
