Happy Labor Day Weekend, Grace Vineyard family and friends.

It’s time for this week’s Weekly Update.  Here’s whats happening around Grace Vineyard in the coming week:

Developing A Kingdom Worldview

Tomorrow we’re going to take a look at the scriptures to learn about how we can learn to see reality the way Jesus does – developing a Kingdom Worldview.  Everybody has a world view — it’s the lens by which we understand and evaulate what we experience in life.  Our world view is similar to the glasses some of us wear — we don’t see the glasses, we see through them. When we read the Gospels and the rest of the New Testament, it becomes clear that Jesus, and then His apostles, saw reality differently from other people.  For example, the Jewish leaders saw the crowds that hung around Jesus as unclean sinners, and evidence that Jesus couldn’t possibly the be the Messiah because the Messiah certainly wouldn’t hang around these kinds of people.  Jesus on the other hand saw the crowds as “harrassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd” (Matthew 9:35).  Jesus’ contemporaries saw lepers as “unclean” people to be avoided, but Jesus saw them as people oppressed by an enemy who needed to be liberated by the God’s inbreaking rule and reign.  We could go on with many more examples.  As disciples of Jesus, we want to learn to see things the way He sees them.  That’s what we’re going to be talking about tomorrow.  I hope to see all of you at 9:30AM, but if for some reason you are not able to join us in person, you can still join us on line.  Here’s the info you need for that:  join us online on Zoom with this link Zoom Meeting ID  153 112 432, Passcode 684814 and you can also find our livestream on Facebook Live at facebook.com/gracevcf.

Last week we had the privilege of hearing from Bethany Roach, from Cambodia.  She gave us an update of their missions work in Cambodia, and combined some amazing stories with a message called Gratitude — how our attitudes and choices can anchor us to the Truth.  It was awesome!  You can catch that talk here on our Gracetalks.org Podcast and our YouTube channel:

Or are you a mom who has been there and wants to lend your support to others?  Then you are welcome to Mom 2 Mom, a peer to peer and mentoring group designed to uplift, enrich, share and connect moms.  We’ll gather Friday, September 25th at 6pm at Grace Vineyard on the terrace for a program that will include sharing a meal, connecting, and inspiration.  Childcare will be provided- please let Sheri know how many kids/what ages.  To find out more, call Sheri Winter at 760-208-8403.

Missions Trip to Malaysia

We’re excited to send out another missions team!  This one will be to Malaysia October 11-November 3rd.  So far we have a 3-person team with Steve & Lisa Rogers and Mark Newell.  There’s still room to join the team — if you’re interested, reach out to Steve Rogers for more info at 760-500-4324.  The budget for this trip is $4,000 per person; if you’d like to partner financially, you can make an online donation at gracevcf.org/donate-malaysia.  Good news on that front – Steve and Lisa have already raised $1,000 each toward their airfare, so they are 25% toward reaching their budget goals!

Nepal Disaster Relief

Most of you will have seen the news about the sudden flooding that has brought devastation to Nepal.    Earlier this year we hosted Noel Isaacs, the national director of the Vineyard Himalayas association of Vineyard churches. Sadly, 10 people from the Vineyard churches in that region lost their lives.  I just checked the news, and the latest update has the death toll from this disaster at over 1,200 people, with over 4,000 still missing. Last Sunday we invited you to donate to the relief effort, and you generously gave $3,800 to send to the Vineyard churches of the Himalayas to care for the people of this region. Thank you! Please join with us in praying for our sisters and brothers there in Nepal.   There will be so much work in rebuilding what this flood has destroyed, and in caring for those who are injured and those who have lost loved ones.  If you didn’t get a chance to make a donation last week, but would like to,  you can go to gracevcf.org/donate-nepal.

That’s all for this week’s update.  May the Lord richly bless each of you!

With love,

Ron Ohst
