Hello Grace Vineyard Family and Friends of Grace Vineyard!
It is Saturday afternoon, and the first thing I want to say is…

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms. At church this Sunday we will honor Moms by giving every woman a rose, because whether or not you have any children by birth or adoption, every one of you is worth being honored! And I’d wager that every one of you has carried the heart of a mom to someone in your life, so we want to say Thank You to you! We love you and the wonderful, unique way you show the heart of God to the people in your life.

Snake (Richard) Ertel did a great job with the message last week. You can watch that message right here:
This week I’m back in the pulpit, and I’ll be talking about “The Value of Honor”. The message has a little focus on Mothers, and I’m certainly jumping off the theme of Honoring Mom’s on Mother’s Day, but the message is going to be a little broader than that. And the title is a little bit of a play on words, because the Greek word in the New Testament that is translated into the English “honor” used in passages like Romans 13:7 which says we should give honor to those whom honor is due, is also sometimes translated “price” in other contexts. The idea is that giving honor is a recognition of the value of the person we are honoring. So honor is value; but honor also recognizes value, and honor gives value, not to mention that the very act of giving honor is valuable to the one doing the honor. I’m hoping we’ll each grow in our walk with Jesus as we focus on the practice of giving honor to others.
After Church Prayer is Next Sunday

Our After Church Prayer meeting is usually the 2nd Sunday of the month, but in honor of Mother’s Day, we’ll be having the prayer meeting on the 17th, next Sunday. Remember, we are asking every body to pick one of the 12 Sundays of the year to join us. Is May 17th your Sunday? While we’re on the topic of prayer, I want to remind you that Roy Lopez leads a prayer at the church every Tuesday evening at 7pm.

This prayer meeting calls on God for not just our church, but for our city, and all the churches in our city. Prayer is POWERFUL, and I would love to see more of us engaged in gathered prayer.

Did you know we also have prayer every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 7am on Zoom? Wednesdays is specifically for our Alpha program, and Tuesdays/Thursdays are more general. Click on this Zoom Meeting ID and enter the password when prompted: Meeting ID: 812 2225 0027, Password: 006314.
Memorial Day Weekend Sunday Potluck

We love sharing meals together, so if you haven’t noticed, we try to have an all church potluck once every quarter. The next date that worked on our calendar happened to fall on Memorial Day Weekend, so we’re going to make it a Hot Dog and Hamburger day. Since the church has a BlackStone grill for our men’s breakfasts now, we’re going to provide the Hot Dogs and Hamburgers, and ask that you just bring a side dish. Sign up in the lobby after church to let us know what you plan on bringing.
Finally, I want to make sure you’ve heard about our newly re-launched Sunday Night Service called Sanctuary.

Join us Sunday evening for a night of food and worship. “Sanctuary” is a community of Grace Vineyard that gathers around the table for a meal and conversation. Followed by worship through music and a message. We start at 6p.m. every Sunday night. Hope to see you ![]()
And that’s it for this Saturday afternoon/evening version of the Weekly Update. I do hope to see all you on Sunday morning at 9:30, but if you can’t join us in person, here’s the info for joining us online: join us online on Zoom with this link Zoom Meeting ID 153 112 432, Passcode 684814 and you can also find our livestream on Facebook Live at facebook.com/gracevcf.
Blessings and love to each of you,
Ron Ohst
