Good Evening, Grace Vineyard Family and Friends,

This is really late (after 8pm on Saturday) for me to start a Weekly Update, but I didn’t want to leave you hanging, so I’m going to attempt a quick one for you so you’ll be able to head into Sunday morning with a little idea about what’s in store for us in the Word.

A New Series Heading Into Easter

Resurrection Sunday is 5 weeks from now.  Starting tomorrow we’re launching a new series called “On The Road to Resurrection”.  The resurrection of Jesus was a pivotal moment in the history of the world.  It marked the inauguration of New Creation.  Paul called Jesus’ resurrection “the firstfruits” of the resurrection of all who have died (see 1 Corinthians 15).  But it goes farther than that, because it’s also the firstfruits of the New Creation, that is, God’s promised renewing of all things.  This is all part of God’s plan to redeem our planet from the reign of death that was unleashed when our forefather’s sinned in the garden of Eden.  There’s a turning point in the Gospels, recorded at Luke 9:51 with these words: “As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.”  Jesus had begun His journey on the road to resurrection.  Jesus’ road was marked by Kingdom ministry, healing the sick, making disciples, lifting the oppressed, feeding the hungry, and ultimately laying down His life on a cross for those He loves.  It’s a road marked by the cross.  And Jesus has called us to pretty much the same road.  It’s marked by joy and it’s marked by suffering, but the end is resurrection both for us and for our world.  We’ll spend the next 5 Sundays exploring this topic, considering Jesus words and works as He journeyed toward the cross, the resurrection, and His ascension to the right hand of God.  I’m excited to begin this journey with you all.

Men – It’s Time To Register For Our Men’s Retreat

We men are going up to Palomar Mountain in just a few weeks, on Friday, March 27-Sunday March 29th for another one of our EPIC men’s retreats.  Palomar Christian Conference Center is really pretty awesome with lots of activities for our free time like  zip line, skeet shooting with shot guns, horseback riding, hiking trails, rifle range, archery, paintball, and more.  And it’s in a beautiful mountain retreat center.  If you’ve never been, check out their webpage at palomar.camp. And that’s just the location.  We’ll also have amazing times of worship, teaching, and prayer. Our men’s retreats at PCCC have always been incredible, and I’m so glad we’ll be returning in the Spring.  They having 2 styles of housing accommodations – dorm rooms and hotel style. The Dorm Rooms will cost $230, and the Hotel Style rooms will cost $285.  This will include all the food for the weekend too.  See Steve Rogers for more more information. You can contact him via text at ‪(760) 500-4324, email him at or srogers@gracevcf.orgIf you don’t have the entire fee today, I suggest you make 3 payments starting right now. So if you’re doing the dorm style room,  that would be $76.67 for the next 3 weeks.  That might make it easier for you.  If you’re ready, here’s where you can pay online:

However you do it, please don’t let anymore time pass before you register.  I’m looking forward to a great time with all my Grace Vineyard brothers!

Join Us For Prayer This Sunday After Church

This Sunday, March 8th, is our Prayer Sunday.  Please make plans to join us for any part of the hour we’ve set aside to seek the Lord, listen to His voice, and intercede for our church, our missionaries, our youth, our city…and whatever else the Lord lays on our hearts.  We’ll start just a few minutes after our Sunday service ends.

Next Saturday – Monthly Ladies Walk

Ladies, our monthly ladies walk will be at Batiquitos Lagoon next Saturday, March 14th.  Meet at the Batiquitos Lagoon Nature Center, 7380 Gabbiano Lane, in Carlsbad.  Please call Kathy Green if you plan to join the ladies at 760-583-1779.  Kim alwaus goes on these, and every time she does she comes back with a great report about how enjoyable the fellowship was.  This is really a great way to get to know your sisters at Grace and get some nice exercise along the way.  You also enjoy the beauty of God’s creation.  I call that a Win-Win-Win.

Monthly Men’s Breakfast Next Saturday

Also on March 14, BACON!  Yes, men, it’s time for our monthly men’s breakfast, and the guys doing the cooking keep upping their game.
