Happy Thanksgiving, Grace Vineyard and Friends,

It’s Friday of Thanksgiving Weekend, and it’s time for our weekly update email.  My family and I are in Pueblo, Colorado right now for Thanksgiving, and it’s snowing today!  Brrrr.  We had a wonderful time with family here that we don’t often get to see.  Lots of food, games, laughter, and love.  I hope you each are enjoying this special time focused on giving thanks!   We’ll be starting our drive back to Oceanside early Saturday morning, but it’s about a 17 hour drive, so I can’t guarantee that I’ll be with you in person on Sunday morning, but I’m gonna try!

Here’s what’s coming up around Grace Vineyard:

This Sunday – Michael Aplikowsky Brings the Message

When we follow Jesus, sometimes Jesus has much more in mind than the destination we think we’re trying to reach. Transformation happens during the journey.  Join us this coming Sunday for a special message from our very special guest speaker, Michael Aplikowsky. This is going to be a message full of scriptures and stories, and I bet you’ll find yourself right in the middle of it.  I hope you’ll be joining our Grace Vineyard Family for worship at 9:30AM.  If you have to be away you can join us online via zoom with this info:  Zoom Meeting ID  153 112 432, Passcode 684814. You may also join us on Facebook Live at facebook.com/gracevcf.

Christmas Eve Singers and Players Needed

Grace, it’s that time of year again, Christmas is quickly approaching and once again Grace will be doing something a little special for Christmas Eve. As part of our Christmas Eve service we’ll be performing an “original song” titled “The 12 Days of Christmas: A not-so-common telling of the Christmas Story”. Auditions and a first read-through of this short musical number will be this coming Monday, Nov. 27th in the church lobby. There are 14 parts to fill, singing and reading the 12 Days of Christmas, so you should be comfortable enough to sing/speak lyrically in front of an audience. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP to Amy Huzil at 858-254-8008 or email ammeepearl@gmail.com. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Decorating for Christmas

We need many hands- male and female to help decorate the church for Christmas.  We’ll be decorating at 11 am Saturday, December 2nd and after the service Sunday, December 3rd.  Pizza and salad are provided on December 3rd.  Please let Kim Ohst know if you plan to come so we have enough food (760.519.4558).

Turkey Soup Lunch After Church Sunday

I love Thanksgiving Dinner. But I also love it when you take those left over turkey bones and meat, throw them in a Soup Pot, and make a delicious Turkey Soup for later. This Sunday, we’re planning on sharing that delicious Turkey soup idea together with all of you.  It’ll be like our Sunday potlucks, only our meal will be a simple meal of Turkey Soup, bread, and pies for dessert.  Jeannie Isbell is organizing the food for this event, so please call her at 760-419-1887 to let her know how you plan to participate.  Thanks!

Ladies Christmas Luncheon, December 9

All the ladies are all invited to join us for our annual Christmas Luncheon.  Michelle Wilson, pastor of Coast Vineyard in San Diego, will be speaking.  We’ll also have Christmas worship and eat delicious soups, salad and desserts.  Cost is $15.  Sign up to bring a soup or dessert or set and host a table.  Bring a $10 (or less) wrapped gift or ornament for the exchange.  We’ll also be collecting money donations to bless our missionaries Eddie and Bethany and their kids for Christmas.  Call Kim Ohst for more information 760.519.4558.

Christmas Luncheon Set Up:  We’ll be setting up for the Christmas Luncheon on Friday, December 8th at 12pm.  Please contact Kim Ohst if you plan to help.

And that’s it for this update email.  I have some more family fun to enjoy here in Pueblo, so I’m gonna run now.  Have a great rest of your weekend!

Blessings and love,

Ron Ohst
