Hello Grace Vineyard Family and Friends!

It’s Friday night and time for another Grace Vineyard Weekly Update.

Jesus Walk Saturday, August 17

The First thing I want to make sure you know about is our Jesus Walk Saturday at 10 am.  We’ll be meeting at the Oceanside Parking Structure next to the transit center on the corner of Seagaze Drive and Cleveland Street.  We will walk on the strand and only the Holy Spirit knows what surprises He has in store for us.  All I know is every time we do this and make ourselves available, we end up have some wonderful encounters, Spirit-filled prayer moments, sharing the Good News of Jesus’ Kingdom, and more.  We really “play it by ear”, and just try to follow the leading of the Spirit.  Who knows, we might end up sharing some grilled hamburgers and hot dogs when we’re done.  I highly recommend you join us!

Steve Rogers in South East Asia

I’m excited to report that Steve Rogers is right now on a flight to the Philippines.  He’ll land in Manila and catch a flight to Davao (on the Philippine Island of Mindanao) where he’ll meet up with our friend Reuel (sorry, I forgot his last name) who works with Vineyard Missions in Indonesia, and has just this summer moved with his wife and son to the Philippines. They will be attending the Philippine Vineyard National Conference in Davao.  After a week in the Philippines, they will flying to Indonesia where they will be doing disciple making work on several of the Indonesian islands.  Please keep Steve and Reuel in your prayers over the coming weeks.  Steve will be back with us on September 7th.

This Sunday – Overcoming Fear

Fear can be debilitating! And I suspect that almost all, or ALL, of us have dealt with fear to some degree or another in our lives. Some fear, of course, is healthy, and serves to keep us safe from danger.  The Bible teaches that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom.  But there is a crippling kind of fear that fights against hope and faith, and can rob of us of our joy and even try to hold us back from following God’s invitation into His mission of redemption in our world.  I felt led to open the Bible with you this Sunday and talk about how we can conquer and overcome fear through the Presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives.  I hope you’ll join me this Sunday.  I think it will be a very helpful and practical message for all of us.  If you are not able to be with us in person this Sunday, you can always join online via the Zoom app with this info:  Zoom Meeting ID  153 112 432, Passcode 684814. You may also join us on Facebook Live at facebook.com/gracevcf.

After Church Prayer This Coming Sunday

It’s time for our monthly after church prayer meeting.  We’ll meet until 1pm on the Terrace at the back of the sanctuary.  I really hope you’ll plan on joining us.  There is no question that prayer – simply making requests of our Father God – is so powerful, and the appointment means by which He partners with us to accomplish His will on the earth.

Make & Bake Fundraiser for Women’s Retreat Scholarships

Sunday, August 25th, is the time to bring items you’d like to donate for us to sell at the Make and Bake Sale.  The proceeds from this sale will pay for retreat costs including retreat scholarships for the upcoming Women’s Retreat.  Those requesting a scholarship will need to help with set up, pricing, selling or tear down.  Drop by our sign up table in the lobby.  Please text or call Kim Ohst for details 760.519.4558.

Women’s One Day Retreat September 7th

Ladies – We will be joining with the ladies of Vineyard Yorba Linda and other Southern California Vineyards for a one day retreat (NOTE: this is NOT the retreat we are raising scholarship money for–that retreat is our Grace Vineyard Women’s Retreat, November 1-3) .  On September 7th, Danielle Pathak, Associate National Director for Vineyard USA will be the speaker.  It will be a time of worship, fellowship, teaching and ministry.  It begins at 9am and ends at 3:30pm.  Cost is $35 and includes breakfast and lunch.  You can find details and register at this link: https://vineyardyorbalinda.churchcenter.com/registrations/events/2383486  If you’d like to carpool, we’ll meet at the church at 7:15am and leave at 7:30.  Call/text Kim if you have questions 760.519.4558.

True Valor Men’s Conference

Men, there’s a conference/retreat for us too! On August 23-24 we are joining with Men from all over North County for a Men’s Conference at Oceanside Calvary Chapel.  If you don’t know, we live in a county that has unusual levels of unity and relationship amongst churches.  In fact I was just with a pastor from New York who is working with a multi-church outreach we are planning for July, and he mentioned how unique it is here in San Diego.  So men, we’re going to get together with men from churches all over our county for a conference designed to help us confront the deadliest manslayers of our times.  Here’s the details from the webpage for the conference:

North County Men’s Conference
August 23-24, 2024

Friday 5:00pm- 9:30pm (Includes Dinner)
Saturday 8:00am – 3:00pm (Includes Lunch)

The Men of North County will be rallying for a two-day conference called True Valor: Confronting the Deadliest Manslayers of Our Times. This conference will intentionally address the most common vices and evils that attack men, while offering an armory of practical tools and weapons to equip you to be the Priest, Provider and Protector you are called to be.

This conference will be many churches, but one brotherhood. This is a charge to every man, and to neighboring and local churches to confront these manslayers with us as a united force. This is a call for men to stand and fight. This is a call for True Valor.

For more info, contact Snake (Richard) Ertel at 760-622-4572, or check out the conference website at: https://www.calvaryoceanside.org/truevalor.
Also, check out this video for the conference:
If you didn’t recognize them, those men speaking in the video were all local pastors from San Diego.  It is going to be so inspiring to gather with these pastors and men from churches all over our county to worship, learn, and get equipped to more fully pursue the Lord in our time.  Let’s see how many Men of Grace will come together in August!

And Married Couples, there’s a retreat for us as well this summer.

Come away with your spouse for a weekend of encouragement, relaxation, and worship!

Our 14th annual Marriage Getaway returns in 2024, August 23-25, to the gorgeous La Quinta Resort & Club. The 45 lush acres of the La Quinta Resort feature 7 restaurants, 41 climate-controlled pools, 21 tennis courts, eight pickleball courts, and a spa. Your Couple Weekend Ticket includes a two-night stay in a King Bed Casita, self-parking, resort fees & taxes, Marriage Getaway event admission for all three days, and Saturday & Sunday continental breakfast. Each couple has the opportunity to extend their stay up to 3 nights prior and 3 nights post the Marriage Getaway Weekend for an additional cost.

And that’s it for this week’s update.

with blessings and love to each of you,
