August 6, 2021

Hello Grace Vineyard and Friends,

Welcome to August!  I hope you’re have another great week!

Full Disclosure: I’m actually writing this update a week early, because  my family is on vacation in Honolulu August 3rd-11th! Some months back we discovered some amazing airfare deals and jumped on them, plus my nephew lives in Honolulu, so we even have a place to stay. Right about now we are probably enjoying a sweet morning on the beach in Waikiki! But back to you all in San Diego for this week’s update. The first thing I can tell you is that this coming Sunday we’ll be back in our study through Galatians: The Gospel of Grace.

We’ll be starting in Chapter 5 of Galatians, and I’m very happy to let you know our speaker will be our own Matt Evans!  If you’ve never heard Matt speak before, you are in for a real treat.  He is one of our most gifted teachers, and you’re going to love opening up the Word with Him.

Sunday Nights at Grace – Join us at 6pm

Secondly, I want to make sure you all know that our new Sunday Night Service is in full swing.  This service is led by pastor Steve Rogers.  We worship together, open the Word with teaching led by Steve, pray for each other as we are led and empowered by the Spirit, and have great times of fellowship.  We hope you’ll make plans to join us this Sunday night.  This week, we’ll be in the second week of our study in who we’ve been called to be – “Real God, Real People, Restoring Lives”.  “Real People” means  we grow by getting real with God and others in genuine, caring relationships.  Our example is from the brand new church of Jesus described in Acts 2 – “Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:46-47)

If you’d like more info about Sunday Nights at Grace, or you’d like to know how you can serve there, please reach out to Steve Rogers at 760-500-4324 or srogers@gracevcf.org.

New Date for Big Texas BBQ

Men, we want to make sure you saw that the Big Texas BBQ event was rescheduled for September 13 at 6:30pm at the River Gardens at 390 Mimosa Ave in Vista. If you can come, please send a quick note to Ron Hartnett at rhartnett@vistaassembly.com to let him know you’re coming.  He’d also appreciate your name and mobile number in that email so he can let you know about future regional men’s ministry events.

Two more things for the men:  1st, don’t forget that our next Men’s Breakfast is on Saturday, August 14th at 8am at Ty’s Burger House with Brian Sliffe as our speaker.  2nd, please connect with Snake (Richard Ertel) about our next Men’s Retreat, March 18-20 at Palomar Christian Conference Center on Palomar Mountain.  March may seem like a long way away, but that means you can start saving for the retreat so it’s no problem to pay for when the time arrives – just send the church $20 every month mentioning it’s for the Men’s Retreat (in the memo line of your check, or in the notes area of the online donation), and we’ll save it for you.  Snake needs to get a good count of how many guys are going so he can solidify our reservation with the conference center. Reach out to Snake at 760-622-4572 or rertel777@gmail.com for all the details.

Vineyard National Conference

Every 2 years, Vineyard USA holds a national conference.  I have gone to these for many years now, and always come away built up and charged up.  I hope many of you can join us in Phoenix this coming October for the 2021 Conference  – “The Way On”.  Here’s a welcome note from National Director Phil Strout and National Director Elect Jay Pathak:

Welcome

We are so excited to bring our Vineyard family and friends together again for our National Conference!

Join us this year in Phoenix for our 2021 National Conference: The Way On. Revisiting Biblical texts that have been seminal for the Vineyard, we will look at how these Scriptures have made us who we are and where new expressions of these teachings are at work in our movement. We will celebrate the best of who we’ve been and hear from some of our rising leaders across the US.

One of the best parts of any conference is being together with our Vineyard family and friends. After a difficult year, we hope that you’ll be able to join us for powerful worship, teaching, ministry, and connection. Not to mention, it will be a lot of fun!

We believe God is positioning us for an exciting future together. As John Wimber used to say, “The way in is the way on.”  The way that God has shaped the Vineyard historically is the way He will continue to shape us during this season of transition.

Join us in Phoenix as we say, “Thank you God for what You’ve done, thank You God for what You’re doing, and thank You God for where You are leading us!”

We hope to see you there!

Phil Strout & Jay Pathak

And with that, I’ll close this week’s update.  Keep Worshiping Jesus with all you got!!

Much love and blessings to each of you,

Ron Ohst
