Hello Grace Vineyard and Friends.

We are definitely crusin through July with so much beauty and life.  I hope your summer is great so far, filled with love, joy, and peace! I’m here with our weekly Grace Vineyard Update to tell you as much as I can about all the opportunities to grow in relationship with each other and the Lord.  Here’s what’s happening in bullet points, followed by the details:

Sewing Purses for Girls in Zambia

This is more of a reminder for all the ladies that signed up for the Purse Sewing Event tomorrow, but just in case there’s a latecomer who’d love to join the women, here’s the info:

We have a great day planned for enjoying some sweet fellowship while we work on an important project together.

  • Learn to sew or teach others to sew
  • Saturday, July 17th, 9am-1pm
  • At Treina’s – 936 Sierra Court, Vista
  • Suggest Donation $10, Lunch will be served

On Saturday, July 17th, from 9am to 1pm we are going to meet at Treina’s home (936 Sierra Court, Vista) to sew purses.  The purses will be filled with sanitary products before sending them along to girls in Zambia, Africa, along with cards that we will also be making.  One of the effects of extreme poverty is that girls without access to sanitary products often miss school and lose their jobs.  Our simple act of love will make a positive change in the life of every girl who receives one of our purses.  Please join us!  If you’d like more information, please contact Kim Ohst at 760-519-4558, or kimohst@gmail.com

Promise Keepers Simulcast at Vista Assembly

The Promise Keepers Men’s Conference will launch this summer at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Here in San Diego we are joining men from our region at a Simulcast of the event at Vista Assembly of God, Saturday, July 17, 8am-5pm. Breakfast and Lunch are included for a $20 registration fee.  Vista Assembly is located at 290 N. Melrose Drive, Vista.

Join us for worship that strengthens the soul, brotherhood that lasts a lifetime, and tools that empower you to be the man Christ intended you to be. By God’s grace, we will return home as changed men.  Click here to register.

Galatians: The Gospel of Grace

Last Sunday we had a great time with Steve and Lisa Rogers hearing about their trip with the Vineyard Missions Honduras Partnership.  They tied it all together by talking about the Power of Relationships.  I gotta say, that Lisa Rogers is quite a preacher!  You can listen to it right here on our podcast:

This coming Sunday I’m going to pick back up in our series from Galatians: The Gospel of Grace.  We’re in chapter 4 where Paul teaches us how the Gospel of Grace has brought us from a state of slavery into freedom, and even more, into a relationship as sons and heirs of God just like Jesus.  It’s really an amazing thought not only did Christ remove the curse we deserved, but He also gives the blessing He deserved.   If you’d like to prepare your heart, start reading in chapter 4 of Galatians.  And if you’d like a reminder of where we left off, you can hear the last sermon in this series from July 4th, right here:

We are, by the way, still broadcasting Sunday mornings on Zoom and Facebook live.  Here’s the info you need for those online opportunities:

Invite The Neighbors

We’re also going to be inviting our neighbors around the church to the Block Party.  This is another opportunity for some Holy Hello’s.  We’ll meet at the church at 10am, and spend about an hour giving out invitation fliers.  Let us know you’d like to join us by texting “invite” to 760-237-4393

Seussical Jr. The Musical

After a year of no live productions due to Covid-19 restrictions, we are very excited to host California Artist’s Academy production of Seussical Jr., The Musical.  There are 6 performances to choose from – Fridays July 23 and 30 at 7:00pm, Saturdays July 24 and 31 at 2:00pm and 7:00pm.  This is a GREAT show, and especially if you have any young people in your life, I would encourage you to bring them.  My daughter Charissa played the role of Mrs. Mayor quite a few years ago now, and I even had a cameo appearance as Yertle the Turtle!  Fun times.  Support youth performing arts — come on out and cheer on the kids.  There are general admission tickets fo $15 at the door.

AND THAT’S IT for this week’s update!

I’ll see you men tomorrow at Promise Keepers, and I’ll see the rest of you on Sunday.

Blessings and love to each of you as you live out your calling to be blessed and be a blessing,

Ron Ohst
