Hi Grace Vineyard and friends,

It’s another Friday!  I hope you have a great week, and are heading into a restful, replenishing weekend, and it looks like it’s going to be a beautiful one in this little bit of paradise we call San Diego.  What a joy to call this place home!

Sundays have been so encouraging  as we’ve heard people share their stories of how they became followers of Jesus.  We’re going to do that again this Sunday (I think I’ll keep it a surprise who will be sharing this week).  We’ve been inspired by Phil Strout’s booklet called “The Greatness of the Gospel”, and I encourage you to take a moment to read it. Here’s a pdf version for you to read on line: “The Greatness of the Gospel”. Phil says the Gospel is always relevant, always transformative, and always our central message. This Sunday we’ll be focusing on the transforming power of the Gospel.  This will be a great Sunday to bring a friend who has not yet given their life to Jesus!  We’ll be both in person and online.  Here’s the online info for your convenience:

Activate Love Workshop on May 29

We are just a couple weeks away from our Saturday Activate Love workshop.  I really want to encourage you to join us if you possibly can.  A Huge value of Grace Vineyard is “everyone gets to play”, meaning that we don’t have a few “professional” ministers who get do the fun stuff of ministry; instead we want every one of us to be equipped, trained, and empowered to do the ministry of Jesus.  Please register today by going to https://www.gracevcf.org/activate-love where you find more details and register.  We become a much stronger church as more and more of us are able to minister the Kingdom of God in the power of the Spirit.

Sunday Morning Youth Begins This Sunday

Starting this coming Sunday, May 16th, our Jr Hi and High School students will have their own youth service!  They’ll join with the adults for worship, and then when we do our greeting time they’ll go up to the youth room for their own time in the Word.  If you have any students in your life somewhere, please give them an invite.  Our youth program is legit!

Also – our youth are going to be putting on a Bake Sale after church one week from this coming Sunday (May 23rd) to raise money for their activities and food at their youth meetings.  If you’d like to help out by bringing some baked goods, please contact Lisa Rogers at srogers@gracevcf.org or 760-696-1944.

Step into Service

When new Christians start hanging out in a church community, it doesn’t take long for them to figure out that pretty much everything that happens is done by volunteers.  That’s cuz the church is US.  Our commitment to Christ and his Church can be measured in terms of the Three T’s: our Time, our Talent, and our Treasure.   And, as a guy who’s been hanging around the church for about 5 decades now, I can tell you quite confidently that personal growth and joy always comes with the commitment of time, talent, and treasure.  You already know the treasure part – God asks us to manage His money (all our income comes from Him) first by using 10% of it to provide for the needs of His church (we call that tithing), and then by asking us to use the other 90% wisely to take care of our own needs of food, clothing, and shelter as well as sharing with those in need whom He brings to our attention.  But do you know about Talent and Time?  That means we take our natural strengths and abilities and spend our time using them to do the work of the ministry along with others in our church community.  If you gotten to know me, you could probably guess what I’m gonna say here…my goal as a pastor is to see every one of us who calls Grace Vineyard our home involved.  That’s how we become a great church for Jesus.   Here’s a list of serving areas and the people to contact by text or giving them a call:

Tithes and Offerings Online

Thank you for your generosity and faithfulness! We could not do what we do without you. We believe God has chosen to meet the material needs of His church through the tithes and offerings of His people. (Tithe means literally 1/10 or 10% of our income). We encourage everybody to be committed to a church family, and if Grace Vineyard is where you are committed, we’ve provided this online tool for you; click on the “donate” button below to get started. (Note: if you’re giving an offering for the building fund or the benevolence fund in addition to your tithe, please mention that in the notes section after you land on our paypal page). THANKS for taking ownership in the life and ministry of Grace Vineyard – it takes all of us!
