May 7, 2021
Hi Grace Vineyard and friends,
Welcome to May. I hope you had a great week; there’s been a lot of life in the last 7 days! Last Friday the women had another wonderful Face to Face meeting in Shanon’s backyard, Sunday morning we had a really great time with Jason DiPinto, Thursday we had a great time praying for the nation at City Hall on the National Day of Prayer, and Tonight a crew from Grace is serving a meal at Bread of Life Rescue Mission.
Of course, a lot more than that happened if you count all the small groups and Bible Studies and Prayer meetings and Youth Group that met this week. I guess I just want to point out that there is a lot of life in community taking place and I hope every one of you is connecting with your Grace Vineyard family some place during the week.
By the way, our gracetalks.org podcast is up and running, so if you’d like to hear Chaplain DiPinto’s talk from last Sunday you can go there to listen to it.
The Greatness of the Gospel
Two Sundays ago I began speaking on the topic, “The Greatness of the Gospel”, and we’ll continue with that topic this Sunday. We made available a booklet by the same title that Vineyard USA published (which is of course what motivated me for these messages). You can get a pdf version of that booklet here: The Greatness of the Gospel. If you’ll be joining us online this Sunday, here’s the zoom info:

Men’s Breakfast this Saturday, May 8th
This Saturday morning it’s time for our monthly Men’s Breakfast at 8am at Ty’s Burger House, just around the corner from the church on Mission Ave. Our dear friend Jim Mumper is in town from Sweden, and he’ll be bringing the word. We’ll be in the backyard for another delicious outdoor breakfast. Men – please join us! This is a great way to get to know some of the guys.
Speaking of Men, we now have the dates for 2 new Authentic Men groups:
We’ll be starting Volume 1: A Man and His Design in person on Sunday mornings at 8am at the church beginning this Sunday! Then on the first Monday of June, we’ll launch a zoom meeting with Volume 6: A Man and His Fatherhood. Check out our men’s ministry webpage for more info, including video samples of these 2 series.
Activate Love Workshop on May 29
I have invited my good friend Jamie Weston to put on another of his “Activate Love” workshops. We’ve been friends for years, and Jamie has led and trained numbers of people in practical ways of demonstrating God’s love in word and deed in our every day lives. I hope many of you will join me in spending a day to grow in this area. We’ll start out at 9:30am with worship, equipping, and impartation. After lunch, we’ll go out into Oceanside an put into practice what we’ve been learning. Then we’ll return to share stories and debrief. You’re going to love it. And you might be a little scared, so you’ll have to “cross the chicken line” like we often say! We need you to register so, go to gracevcf.org/activate-love for more info and to register.
Sunday Morning Youth Begins May 16
Did you know we have a really awesome youth ministry for Junior High and High School students?! They meet every Wednesday at 6:30 PM in our youth facility called The Upper Room. If you’ve never seen that room, check it out! I’ll give you a tour, or I bet our youth pastor Lisa Rogers would be happy to tell you all about it. We have really cool place for our students to gather. And now, starting on Sunday morning, May 16th, we’re adding a youth service. They will be with the adults for worship, and then when we do our greeting time the youth will head on up to the Upper Room for their own time in the Word. I’m telling all of you this so that 1) if you have youth in your family, they’ll want to know, and 2) if you know any Junior High or High School students, you’ll be able to invite them to something special on Sunday mornings.
And with that, I’ll end this week’s update. Have a wonderful weekend, and I’ll see you Sunday Morning.
Blessings and love to each of you,
Tithes and Offerings Online
Thank you for your generosity and faithfulness! We could not do what we do without you. We believe God has chosen to meet the material needs of His church through the tithes and offerings of His people. (Tithe means literally 1/10 or 10% of our income). We encourage everybody to be committed to a church family, and if Grace Vineyard is where you are committed, we’ve provided this online tool for you; click on the “donate” button below to get started. (Note: if you’re giving an offering for the building fund or the benevolence fund in addition to your tithe, please mention that in the notes section after you land on our paypal page). THANKS for taking ownership in the life and ministry of Grace Vineyard – it takes all of us!
