March 4, 2022

Hi Grace Vineyard and Friends of Grace,

Welcome to March!  Spring is almost here, and I’m happy to see flowers, both natural and spiritual, blooming all around us.  When I say “spiritual” I’m thinking of all the Kingdom Life I see bursting through you all.

Just take a look at a few examples – last Saturday, a group of us went down to the Regal Theater area to do “Sidewalk Worship” – where we worshiped Jesus in song and looked for opportunities to share with people who stopped by.

Steve Rogers and Mark Newell are right now in Honduras serving and encouraging Vineyard Churches there.  Please keep them in your prayers while they are gone.

Last night some folks from the Thursday night home group went to a local shopping center to engage in some Holy Hello’s and had a wonderful time encouraging and praying for people there.

And right now, as I write this on Friday evening, we have a team loving our neighbors at Bread of Life Rescue Mission.

That’s a lot of life, and there’s a lot more that’s happening.   Thanks for being an awesome church family!

Here’s some Grace Life coming up that you’ll want to know about.

New Location For Face to Face Saturday

There’s rain in the forecast, so we’re moving this month’s Face to Face homegroup inside.  We’ll meet in the church on Saturday (tomorrow) March 5, from 2-4pm.  Kim Ohst will be speaking on the topic “Comfortable with the Uncomfortable”, and Ammee Huzil will be leading worship.  If you have any questions, contact Kim at 760-519-4558, or kimohst@gmail.com.

Men’s Breakfast and Men’s Retreat Signups

Men of Grace – our next Men’s Breakfast is next Saturday, on March 12th, at 8am at Ty’s Burgerhouse.  Our guest speaker will be Tim Parlier of Generation Church. The men from Generation Church will be joining us on our Men’s Retreat on March 18-20, which leads me to my next thought – IT’S TIME TO REGISTER FOR THE MEN’S RETREAT!  If you haven’t registered yet, you are just about out of time – see Snake at the table in the back of the church this Sunday morning so you can make sure there’s room for you.  It’s going to be an outstanding retreat this year, and you definitely don’t want to miss it!

Ladies Walk on 3rd Saturday in March

Our Saturday Ladies Walk is usually on the 2nd Saturday of the month, but we want to give you a heads up that in March it’s going to be on the 3rd Saturday – March 19th.  The ladies will be going on the  Batiquitos Lagoon Walk, Saturday March 19 @ 9:00 AM. We will meet at the Batiquitos Lagoon Nature Center (7380 Gabbiano Lane, Carlsbad). Call Kathy Green if you are joining us, 760-583-1779.

California Will Be Saved Event

This week I met a really cool young man named Ross, who is leading a series of outreaches from the southern most tip of California to the northernmost tip of California.  They call their ministry “California Will Be Saved”.  We shared a meal, he told me his amazing testimony, shared his vision and what’s been happening already in the ministry, and then we walked around Oceanside and had a couple Holy Hello’s praying for people we met.  I hope you’ll check them out at https://cawillbesaved.com On Saturday, March 26th, they will be holding a Worship/Evangelism event at the Oceanside Pier Amphitheater.  They partner with local churches to provide prayer ministry at the event and discipleship follow-up after the event.  So please mark your calendars and plan on joining us at 5pm on the 26th.

Sunday Morning – More Thriving For A Lifetime

Have you ever heard the phrase, “the best defense is a strong offense”?  Well that definitely applies to what we’ll see this week in our study of 1 John. Last week we talked about The Three Braided Strands of a Thriving Life, looking at 3 priorities that John describes in the opening of his letter – strand 1: “Koinonia” (that Greek word that means intimate communion that we share together with each other and the Lord – a sharing of life, purpose, resources, struggles, victories, worship, and more); strand 2 – Living in the Light; and strand 3 – Following the Way of Love.    It might be worth giving a listen on our podcast if you missed it last week:

This week John will talk about some of the attacks of the evil one, and we’ll learn how these same components of a thriving life serve to defend us from Satan’s attacks.   If you’d like to read ahead (which I recommend!), check out 1 John 2:15-29.

We’ll be together in-person at 9:30, but if you need to stay home,  you can join us on Zoom at Zoom Meeting ID  153 112 432, Passcode 684814.

Have a great weekend, and I’ll see you on Sunday morning!

Love and blessings to each of you,

Ron Ohst
