Grace Vineyard Update 12-11-2020

Hi Grace Vineyard and Friends,

Another weekend is upon us.  As we began this last week, when we saw that the weather forecast called for Sunday to have a high of 70 and low of 50 we decided to take advantage of the opportunity and do another outdoor worship gathering. Like last time, we’ll meet at 10am to give the sun just a little more time to warm up the morning.  We’ll be meeting in the parking lot behind the church building.  We’ll set up chairs and some shade covers, so you don’t need to bring anything but yourselves.

Last week I began a Christmas themed series called “Receive Your King: Preparing Our Hearts for Christmas”.  I’ve read the Biblical account of Jesus’ birth so many times over the years, but it really became fresh to me as we read about Zechariah’s experience with the angel Gabriel at the altar of incense (Luke 1).   We were encouraged to prepare our hearts this week by going before the Lord in the spirit of Psalm 139:23 – Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.   See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting“, turning away from anything He points out, and Expecting a breakthrough.  This Sunday we’ll continue exploring with the story of the angel Gabriel telling Mary and then Joseph about Messiah coming to earth through a natural human birth…can you imagine the shock, the wonder, the fear, the risk, the excitement?!  Let’s dive in and see what the Father has for our lives.

As I said, we’ll be meeting in the parking lot behind our building at 10:00 on Sunday, but we’ll also have a camera set up and will broadcast on Zoom and Facebook Live. Here’s the connection info:

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at The River Gardens

We are so happy to let you know that we are going to be able to come together for a very special Christmas Eve Candlelight Service.  Our Christmas Eves at Grace have been one of our most loved annual traditions.  This year we are partnering with The River Church and Jesus Culture San Diego with an outdoor service at the very beautiful River Garden in Vista from 5-6PM, with doors opening at 4:30PM.  This venue is so beautiful that it’s hard to describe, but you can see some pictures at their wedding and events website – https://www.rivergardenweddings.com/ .  You’re going to love it.  To help prepare, we’re asking that you register by clicking here. Our own Ammee Huzil will be leading the Christmas Worship, we’ll have communion and the traditional candle lighting while we sing Silent Night.  And yes, we will be following all the covid19 guidelines – cookies are individually wrapped, communion elements are also individually sealed. Be prepared to wear a mask and maintain 6 feet distance from those not in your household.

Christmas Gifts for Those Needing a Helping Hand

We all know people who have been hit hard financially by the covid19 pandemic, and there are certainly people in our congregation that we would like to give a special gift to at Christmas time.  If you’d like help, you can give online to the Christmas Benevolence Fund by clicking on this button:

100% of every donation made with this button will go to families who could use a helping hand this Christmas.

Men, I’ll see you on Saturday morning at 9 on Zoom, and everyone else, I’ll see you Sunday morning either in person in our parking lot at 10am, or online.

With love and blessings to each of you,

Ron Ohst

Tithes and Offerings Online

Thank you for your generosity and faithfulness! We could not do what we do without you. We believe God has chosen to meet the material needs of His church through the tithes and offerings of His people. (Tithe means literally 1/10 or 10% of our income). We encourage everybody to be committed to a church family, and if Grace Vineyard is where you are committed, we’ve provided this online tool for you; click on the “donate” button below to get started. (Note: if you’re giving an offering for the building fund or the benevolence fund in addition to your tithe, please mention that in the notes section after you land on our paypal page). THANKS for taking ownership in the life and ministry of Grace Vineyard – it takes all of us!
