Grace Vineyard Update 12-04-2020

Greetings, Grace Vineyard and Friends!

Welcome to December.  Yes, I’m one of those guys that loves Christmas season.  I like the decorations, the lights, the Christmas music everywhere, the cookies and candies, the Christmas-themed movies, the gift giving…so Merry Christmas to you all!

It’s already Saturday, so I just want to give you a very quick update for this weekend.

First, I want to remind you that we are meeting exclusively online this week – on Zoom and Facebook Live.  Unfortunately, last week we had technical difficulties that prevented the Facebook Live stream for working.  We hope that won’t be the case this week, but be prepared to join us on Zoom if necessary (and I recommend it anyway so we can interact with each other).  Here’s the info:

Facebook Live will hopefully be available at\gracevcf. But note that it will only be a copy of the zoom meeting, so you’ll really do better to jump into the zoom meeting.

Come Prepared for Communion

I’d love to have communion with you tomorrow.  So please gather together the elements – some sort of bread or cracker and juice.

Receive Your King

For the next 3 Sundays leading up to Christmas, I hope to read stories of Jesus’ Birth in the Gospels.  I’m calling this series “Receive Your King; Preparing our hearts for Christmas”.  Tomorrow we’ll focus on the story of Zechariah in Luke 1.  Next week on the 13th we’ll focus on the stories of Joseph and Mary saying their “yes” to the invitation.  The following week will read the story of Jesus’ birth and rejoice together at this great event.  Then on December 27, we’ve invited Michael Cohen of Chosen People Ministries to be our guest speaker again – he’ll be bringing an insightful perspective from Jewish Believers on “Christmas Through Jewish Eyes”.  So get ready!  It’s going to be a great month of worshiping together.

Women’s Christmas Party on Zoom

Our very creative Women’s Ministry leaders have planned a Christmas party on December 11, at 7pm on Zoom.  Wear your comfy jammies or Christmas attire.  We are excited to welcome back Margy Hill as our guest speaker, and our very own Ammee Huzil to lead us in worship. There will be games and so much more!  Here’s the meeting info:

We are wrapping up our annual Missions focus – “Partners in the Harvest: Renewing our Commitment to the Great Commission”.  If you haven’t already, this would be the perfect time for you to take a quick look at our missions page (updated with the latest info) –  Pay special attention to the Pledge form where we are each renewing our pledges to Grace Missions for 2021.  A big THANK YOU to all of you who have already responded! (Many of you saw my email earlier this week and have jumped in.  My heart is full of gratitude for your partnership.) It is crucial that each of us renew our pledge so that we can tell our missionaries how much financial support they can expect from us for 2021.  They need this info!  When we all partner together, the task is easy to accomplish, so please make sure to renew your pledge today at 2020-2021 Missions Pledge.

And that’s it for this week.  See you Sunday at 9:30 for our all Zoom worship.  And don’t forget your communion elements!
Blessings and love,
Ron Ohst

Tithes and Offerings Online

Thank you for your generosity and faithfulness! We could not do what we do without you. We believe God has chosen to meet the material needs of His church through the tithes and offerings of His people. (Tithe means literally 1/10 or 10% of our income). We encourage everybody to be committed to a church family, and if Grace Vineyard is where you are committed, we’ve provided this online tool for you; click on the “donate” button below to get started. (Note: if you’re giving an offering for the building fund or the benevolence fund in addition to your tithe, please mention that in the notes section after you land on our paypal page). THANKS for taking ownership in the life and ministry of Grace Vineyard – it takes all of us!
