March 5, 2021

Hello Grace Vineyard and Friends.  Welcome to March!  It is looking a lot like Spring around here.  So beautiful.  And there’s good news regarding the pandemic here in San Diego – the numbers are all moving in the right direction…finally!   Let’s keep praying for the entire situation, especially for those who have lost loved ones.  We are at the one year anniversary of the last Sunday we had before the shutdowns began in 2020, if you can believe that.  But with the improving situation, we are once again able to meet indoors with some limitations.

We are following California Health Department covid-19 protocols, including wearing face coverings and maintaining 6 feet of distance between households.  AND we are thankful that we were able to begin having children’s ministry last Sunday.  We’ll continue this Sunday.  If you have any questions about that, please contact our children’s ministry coordinator, Debby Gidley, at 760-637-9286, or debby@gracevcf.org.   We need to rebuild our service teams now that we are meeting together again.  Our children’s ministry, ushers and greeters, security, youth…everything!  If you call Grace Vineyard your home, then we encourage you to contribute to the family…we need you!  We each give of our time, talent, and treasure to each other and for the ongoing mission of Jesus’ church.  Contact us at 760-754-2974 or info@gracevcf.org to let us know you’d like to help!

Last Sunday we continued our study of the Gift and the gifts of the Holy Spirit with this exhortation – “Don’t seek the experience of my Presence, seek Me.  Seek to know Me”, and this sermon-in-a-sentence – “Make knowing the Holy Spirit a primary focus of your life.”  This week we’ll look to the Scriptures to learn more about the Holy Spirit, with a message entitled, “Getting to know the Holy Spirit.”  Of course this is a HUGE topic in the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, so we may have to camp out on this topic for a few weeks.  For those who will be joining us via Zoom, here’s the info you need:

Men’s Breakfast March 13th

Men – it’s time for our next men’s breakfast coming up next Saturday.  We’re back at Ty’s Burgerhouse backyard, at 8am, 515 Mission Ave, just around the corner from the church.  This month we welcome Ron Flores as our guest speaker.  Ron has been a great blessing to the body of Christ for many decades!  He has served in many ways, including as a pastor in the early days of Calvary Chapel and the Vineyard, worship leader, small group leader, and even for as season as the leader of Grace Vineyard’s men’s ministry.

We’re Gonna Need Your Muscle

By now you’ve probably heard we’re finally replacing the flooring in our building and at the entryway, and we’re saving money by doing the non-skilled labor ourselves. We’re still working out the details for our rip-out-the-carpet-afternoon, but it should be soon, so we’re building the team now  (no, things did not work out for doing it this Sunday, but we’re moving forward).  We’ll meet right after church and get to work.  You don’t need any particular skills, you just need to be ready to work.  The more volunteers we have, the quicker it will go, so please step up and let us know you can join us by contacting Steve Rogers at 760-500-4324 or srogers@gracevcf.org.

Building Fund Update

In addition to your muscles, we also need those building donations to finish raising the money for our new flooring.  Remember, we’re raising $20,000 for this phase of our building refurbishing.  Thank you to all you who have already given to this project.  So far we’ve raised just under $7,000, so we’re at about  33% of the way to our goal, which is really great;  we need to raise about $13,000 more to reach this goal.   To give online, you can click on this link: building-fund donation, or you can send in your check with “building” in the memo line, to Grace Vineyard, 102 N. Freeman Street, Oceanside, 92054.

2021 Marriage Getaway September 24-26

We are so excited to announce that the annual marriage retreat is going to happen this year again, September 24-26 at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa.   The Marriage Getaway has been a highlight of the year to many of us for the last decade.  This year’s speakers are Bill and Pam Farrel.  All the info and registration is at this link.  Check out this promotional video:

These Marriage Getaways are extremely popular and could sell out very quickly, so register as soon as you can.

That’s all for now.  I’ll see you Sunday morning!

Blessing and love,

Ron Ohst

Tithes and Offerings Online

Thank you for your generosity and faithfulness! We could not do what we do without you. We believe God has chosen to meet the material needs of His church through the tithes and offerings of His people. (Tithe means literally 1/10 or 10% of our income). We encourage everybody to be committed to a church family, and if Grace Vineyard is where you are committed, we’ve provided this online tool for you; click on the “donate” button below to get started. (Note: if you’re giving an offering for the building fund or the benevolence fund in addition to your tithe, please mention that in the notes section after you land on our paypal page). THANKS for taking ownership in the life and ministry of Grace Vineyard – it takes all of us!
