Grace Vineyard Update 02-12-2021

Hi Grace Vineyard and Friends,

Happy Valentine’s Day to you!  Well, almost, that is…we still have a couple days to go.  It’s time for my weekly email update, so here we go with the news from Grace Vineyard.

Men’s Breakfast – REAL FOOD! – this Saturday

Guys – after months of “Virtual Men’s Breakfasts” we get to meet in person in the backyard area of Ty’s Burgerhouse.  It will be great to eat those biscuits and gravy again!  We’ll meet at 8am just like we used to.  We’ll have breakfast, a time of worship, and a word brought by Jim Sliffe.  It’s going to be great. I hope you can join us!  Any questions – call Snake at 760-622-4572.

Sunday Mornings

This Sunday, we’ll be meeting online via Zoom as we have been the last several months.  But things are about to change.  Some of you probably saw in the news last week that the Supreme Court made a ruling on the California shutdown order that prohibits in-person church gatherings.  The short version is that California churches can start meeting indoors in person again with certain restrictions remaining in place — things like no congregational singing allowed, face coverings must be worn by everybody, seating must accommodate 6 feet of distance between people who aren’t from the same household, etc.  I just want you to know that our leadership council is working on the details of how we can begin meeting inside the theater again, and anticipate that we will have things in place for those who desire to meet together in person by next week (hoping to be indoors together a week from this Sunday on February 21).  We have a value of  ministering to the needs of both those who feel they should avoid crowds by staying home, and those who desire to be together in person.  So, we’ll probably have some form of a hybrid Sunday morning service where everybody (including those who are leading worship or speaking) will have the option to join us virtually (via zoom) or in person.  This takes prayer, planning, prepping, and training in technology, so we really appreciate your prayers as we work on these details.

We also value loving each other well – we are a congregation with widely varied thoughts, opinions, and feelings, and we must be considerate of each other’s differences, showing each other kindness, love, compassion, humility, and forgiveness as we work through this season.  I know that God causes all things to work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purposes (Romans 8:28), so I am confident that the challenges of this last year will be used by God to grow us more into a reflection of our wonderful King Jesus for the world around us.
This Sunday, I’m planning on beginning some teaching on the really amazing resource we have for sharing God’s love with each other and the world around us.  I’ll be talking about the Gift and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.  We’ll meet at 9:30 on zoom and here’s the usual info:

New Monday Night Bible Study Has Begun

Last Monday, Ammee Huzil began hosting another Bible Study online (over zoom), and the first session was GREAT. We are focusing on the attributes of God through various scripture reading and discussion, prayer and worship. Books are currently sold out but they are not necessary, just nice if you like to follow along and journal.  You can see the reading plans online right here: The study should go for approx. 10 weeks. Even though  we already began last week we thought we’d give folks one last opportunity to jump in. Please RSVP by, or by text: 858-254-8008 so you can receive the zoom link!

Building Refurbishing Update

We’re getting close.  As you’ve probably heard us say, our next project is replacing the flooring – both outside and inside.  The flooring we have in mind is going to make a huge difference! Our current goal is to raise $20,000, which is actually very low for all that we plan on doing (we’ve got a lot of floor space!), and  that’s because we are going to use the power of volunteerism to do all the non-skilled labor we can.  When we brought this project to you we let you know that because we have confidence in your generosity,  as soon as we raise the first $5,000 we will pull the trigger and get to work on the inside.  So far, we’ve received $3,951, and that’s from just 11 of us, so we should be able to get to $5,000 really soon – maybe this week! When that happens, we’ll be inviting you to join us for a workday where we will pull up all the carpet in the lobby and sanctuary, so we can save as much money as possible on the installation. Please join us in praying that once again all our needs will be met abundantly.  To make your donation to the building fund, either send a check with “Building Fund” in the memo line to 102 N. Freeman St., Oceanside, CA, or give online by clicking here: building-fund donation.

And that’s it for this week!  Much love and blessing to each of you.

Tithes and Offerings Online

Thank you for your generosity and faithfulness! We could not do what we do without you. We believe God has chosen to meet the material needs of His church through the tithes and offerings of His people. (Tithe means literally 1/10 or 10% of our income). We encourage everybody to be committed to a church family, and if Grace Vineyard is where you are committed, we’ve provided this online tool for you; click on the “donate” button below to get started. (Note: if you’re giving an offering for the building fund or the benevolence fund in addition to your tithe, please mention that in the notes section after you land on our paypal page). THANKS for taking ownership in the life and ministry of Grace Vineyard – it takes all of us!
