Weekly Update 02-05-2021

Hello Grace Vineyard and Friends,

And just like that, it’s February!  Some people think the theme of February is LOVE, because of Valentine’s Day on the 14th, of course.   That works nicely to trigger our memory for  the “Magnificent Five” characteristics of the Good Life that we talked about last month — Love, Joy, Peace, Hope, and Faith.

We had a great time last Sunday afternoon with Worship in the Park.  It was so nice to see you all in 3 dimensions!  Let’s keep holding with HOPE as we anticipate the day that can’t be that far away when we’ll all be worshiping together in the beautiful theater that the Lord has given us!  But, this coming Sunday we’ll be back online again.  We have a special treat – our own Snake Ertel (Richard to some of us) will be bringing the message this week, so you DEFINITELY won’t want to miss this Sunday.  You’ll probably want to invite a friend too, cuz Snake is Awesome!  When I texted him today to see what his topic is, he said: “God’s greatest commandments, forgiveness, idols & worship”.  It’s always the same zoom info, but here it is again for your convenience:

We’re also planning on streaming the Zoom meeting on Facebook live for those who can’t join our zoom meeting;  just go to our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/gracevcf.  We’ll be worshiping via zoom, so we’ve made the lyrics available for the songs we plan on singing for our worship time by clicking here: gracevcf.org/lyrics. (You might want to print them before Sunday so they’re handy).

New Monday Night Bible Study

Ammee Huzil will be hosting another online (over zoom) Bible Study, beginning Monday, February 8th, at 7 p.m. Focusing on the attributes of God through various scripture reading and discussion, prayer and worship. Books are available but they are not necessary, just nice if you like to follow along and journal. The study should go for approx. 10 weeks. Please RSVP by email:ammeepearl@gmail.com, or by text: 858-254-8008 so you can receive the zoom link!

Online Meeting Highlight – Morning Prayer

Speaking of being online for both Sunday Morning and small group meetings, I thought I’d highlight a very special meeting that happens every Tuesday-Thursday at 7am-8am.  Shannon Frye hosts us in this zoom prayer meeting, and whenever I am able to make it, I get filled up!  We generally read 1 chapter of the Bible together, talk about it briefly, then launch into praying for whatever needs we bring to the table.  We end promptly at 8am. One of the really special things about this prayer time is that we almost always have one or more of our brothers from Pakistan join us, and it’s just amazing to pray with and be encouraged by brothers from the Persecuted Church.  Join us this coming week on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday at 7am, and you will both be blessed and be a blessing!

Building Refurbishing

As we look forward to the day we can return to worship in our building, we want to finish the next phase in refurbishing this beautiful theater God has blessed us with.   The next projects are flooring – both outside and inside.  Our current goal is to raise $20,000, and I have no doubt we can do that easily.  Those of you who know about flooring costs recognize that price is very low for all flooring we have.  VERY LOW!  That’s because we are going to use the power of volunteerism to do all the non-skilled labor we can.  Three weeks ago we brought this project to you and we let you know that because we have confidence in your generosity,  as soon as we raise the first $5,000 we will pull the trigger and get to work on the inside.  So far, we’ve received $3,550, and that’s from just 9 of us, so we should be able to get to $5,000 really soon. When that happens, we’ll be inviting you to join us for a workday where we will pull up all the carpet in the lobby and sanctuary, so we can save as much money as possible on the installation.    As more of us enter into the regular rhythm of tithing, and many of us also give an extra building offering, we will be well able to finish this project.  Of course, we’ve also got the power of prayer on our side…please join us in praying that once again all our needs will be met abundantly.  To make your donation to the building fund, either send a check with “Building Fund” in the memo line to 102 N. Freeman St., Oceanside, CA, or give online by clicking here: building-fund donation.

And that’s it for this week’s update.  Have a great weekend!

With love and blessing to each of you,

Ron Ohst

Tithes and Offerings Online

Thank you for your generosity and faithfulness! We could not do what we do without you. We believe God has chosen to meet the material needs of His church through the tithes and offerings of His people. (Tithe means literally 1/10 or 10% of our income). We encourage everybody to be committed to a church family, and if Grace Vineyard is where you are committed, we’ve provided this online tool for you; click on the “donate” button below to get started. (Note: if you’re giving an offering for the building fund or the benevolence fund in addition to your tithe, please mention that in the notes section after you land on our paypal page). THANKS for taking ownership in the life and ministry of Grace Vineyard – it takes all of us!
