Weekly Update 01-29-2021
Happy Friday to you, Grace Vineyard and Friends!
The weather has changed! It’s cold and windy and rainy, and to be honest, I love it! But it should be sunny again by the time the weekend is over. That’s good news, cuz we are planning on meeting for an outdoor worship gathering at 2pm in Buddy Todd Park.
We will be meeting for our Sunday morning service as usual at 9:30PM Online via Zoom this Sunday, but later in the day when we hope it’s a bit warmer, we’ll go to Buddy Todd park to worship in song (it won’t be like a church service with preaching, etc; just a time to worship the Lord in Song). We’ll try to find a spot near the parking lot, but it is first come, first served, so no guarantees on the exact location.
Bring your own chairs, blankets, drinks, etc. This will be completely acoustic, so if you play a portable instrument (like a guitar), feel free to bring it along. We’ll print out some extra copies of the chord charts to share. You could also print out a set of chord charts for yourself, right here: Songbook For Worship in the Park January 31, 2021.
For us singers, here’s the lyrics for the songs we are planning: Lyrics for the Park 01-31-2021.
The Good Life – How to Share it
The last few Sunday we’ve been looking at the topic, “The Good Life: What it is, How to Experience it, How to share it”. This will probably be our last Sunday in this series, and we’ll be looking at the last part – how to share the Good Life. You’ll recall that we’re really talking about life in God’s Kingdom, especially as described by these “Magnificent Five” Characteristics of life in the Kingdom of God: Love, Joy, Peace, Hope, and Faith. Here’s those definitions one more time:
Love – immersed in the safety of loving and being loved by God and a community of people who are for me, and are intentional about promoting my good
Joy – a pervasive sense of well-being (which is a delightful way to live!)
Peace – the prosperity of a soul at rest, without the need for striving
Hope – the anticipation of good that is still unseen
Faith– confidence grounded in reality that enables us to “see” the unseen good that we hope for
Once again, we’ll be meeting online via Zoom, and here’s the info for the zoom meeting:

We’re also planning on streaming the Zoom meeting on Facebook live for those who can’t join our zoom meeting; just go to our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/gracevcf. We’ll be worshiping via zoom, so we’ve made the lyrics available for the songs we plan on singing for our worship time by clicking here: gracevcf.org/lyrics. (You might want to print them before Sunday so they’re handy).
We Pray San Diego
We are getting together for our third We Pray San Diego event. This time we will be praying for our hospital workers and first responders, and this event will be exclusively online. We will be praying Saturday, January 30, from 9-10am. Go to www.wepraysandiego.com for the details, and a downloadable audio prayer guide.
It’s time to begin the next phase in refurbishing this beautiful theater God has blessed us with, so it will be in great condition for when we are able to open up for indoor gatherings. I can’t wait for that day!! The next projects are flooring – both outside and inside. Our current goal is to raise $20,000, and I have no doubt we can do that easily. Those of you who know about flooring costs recognize that price is very low for all flooring we have. VERY LOW! That’s because we are going to use the power of volunteerism to do all the non-skilled labor we can. Two weeks ago we let you know that because we have confidence in your generosity, as soon as we raise the first $5,000 we will pull the trigger and get to work on the inside. When that happens, we’ll be inviting you to join us for a workday where we will pull up all the carpet in the lobby and sanctuary, so we can save as much money as possible on the installation. As I mentioned last week, many of us have been blessed to stay fully employed during the pandemic, so for us the government’s stimulus money is an extra windfall which means we’ve had extra resources to draw from for this phase of the building refurbishing. As more of us enter into the regular rhythm of tithing, and many of us also give an extra building offering, we will be well able to finish this project. Of course, we’ve also got the power of prayer on our side…please join us in praying that once again all our needs will be met abundantly. To make your donation to the building fund, either send a check with “Building Fund” in the memo line to 102 N. Freeman St., Oceanside, CA, or give online by clicking here: building-fund donation.
That’s it for this week’s Grace Vineyard Update. See you Sunday morning online!
Blessings and love,
Tithes and Offerings Online
Thank you for your generosity and faithfulness! We could not do what we do without you. We believe God has chosen to meet the material needs of His church through the tithes and offerings of His people. (Tithe means literally 1/10 or 10% of our income). We encourage everybody to be committed to a church family, and if Grace Vineyard is where you are committed, we’ve provided this online tool for you; click on the “donate” button below to get started. (Note: if you’re giving an offering for the building fund or the benevolence fund in addition to your tithe, please mention that in the notes section after you land on our paypal page). THANKS for taking ownership in the life and ministry of Grace Vineyard – it takes all of us!
