Grace Vineyard Update 01-08-2021

Hello Grace Vineyard and Friends,

Welcome to week two of 2021!  I hope you’re all doing well.  It’s been quite a week, hasn’t it!.  As 2020 came to a close I know some folks were saying they were quite happy to say goodbye to 2020, but if they thought all the problems were suddenly going away as the new year dawned…that hasn’t worked out so well, as anyone who watched the news this week could tell you.  Anyone looking to circumstances for our sense of well-being, of peace, of joy probably isn’t going to find what they’re looking for.  But we have good news, don’t we?!  We have another foundation, another rock that cannot be moved, a source of well-being, peace, and joy that is dependable in God’s Kingdom.  Because Jesus has made God’s Kingdom available to everybody, it’s really true that we can all enter “The Good Life” no matter what’s happening in the world around us.

For the next couple of weeks on Sunday mornings I plan on talking on the topic, “The Good Life: what it is, how to experience it, how to share it.”  I’ve been really encouraged as I’ve been looking at what some call the Magnificent Five- Love, Joy, Peace, Hope and Faith.  These are five interconnected virtuous conditions available to us.  On Sunday we’ll look at a passage from the Bible book of Romans that I think is really going to encourage you by the time we unpack it together:

Romans 5:1-5

Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

We’ll be meeting online via Zoom.  Here’s the info you need to join us:

Tithes and Offerings Online

Thank you for your generosity and faithfulness! We could not do what we do without you. We believe God has chosen to meet the material needs of His church through the tithes and offerings of His people. (Tithe means literally 1/10 or 10% of our income). We encourage everybody to be committed to a church family, and if Grace Vineyard is where you are committed, we’ve provided this online tool for you; click on the “donate” button below to get started. (Note: if you’re giving an offering for the building fund or the benevolence fund in addition to your tithe, please mention that in the notes section after you land on our paypal page). THANKS for taking ownership in the life and ministry of Grace Vineyard – it takes all of us!
