April 23, 2021
Happy Weekend, Grace Vineyard and Friends.
It’s been a full week for me. I drove to Phoenix on Monday to join the leaders of the Vineyard USA for our annual leadership team meeting. Sometimes when I’m at these meetings I wish I could take you all with me! Of course I can’t do that, but I can do something close. So, the first thing I want to say in this weekly update is: please mark your calendars for our upcoming Vineyard National Conference at the North Phoenix Vineyard Church on October 18-22.
Seriously, Save The Date on your calendars. Vineyard National Conferences happen every 2 years, so don’t miss it if you can possibly make it. You’ll have the opportunity to meet with Vineyard folks from around the nation, have incredible times of worship, experience the power of the Spirit in some amazing ministry times, hear from our national leaders, and more. Click here for more info: https://conference.vineyardusa.org. Because of the uncertainties caused by COVID19, they are still working out details. I have been going to these conferences for many, many years, and I always come away filled up.
This Sunday: The Greatness of the Gospel
Speaking of the Vineyard, our national director, Phil Strout, has written a really helpful study called, “The Greatness of the Gospel”. As I was reading it this week I really felt impressed to bring this teaching to all of us on a Sunday morning, so that’s what we’re going to do this Sunday morning. We’ve printed booklets that we’ll have available on Sunday morning. For your convenience, I’ve also made a pdf available by clicking here so you can read it on your device if you like. And if you can’t make it Sunday but you’d like a printed copy, just let us know, and we’ll figure out a way to get it to you. Our anchor verse will be:
Romans 1:16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes…
Here’s the info for catching us online at 9:30 am this Sunday:

For those who can’t join our zoom meeting you can also go to our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/gracevcf.
Speaking of Sundays reminds me – we are getting our podcast gracetalks.org up and running again. Some of our recent Sunday sermons are posted, and we are working hard to get caught up with the most recent months. Check it out and make the most of your next commute.
New Authentic Manhood Groups Starting Soon
If you’ve been reading our recent updates, you know that we’ve launched some new small groups recently. “The Third Option” group has already launched, and the deadline has passed for the upcoming women’s Elijah study, but we have something for you men to start thinking about. We don’t have the dates in cement yet, but keep watching for the soon launch of an 8am Sunday Morning Authentic Manhood group with Volume 1: A Man And His Design. We’re also going to launch a new Monday Zoom Group with Volume 6: A Man and His Fatherhood. You can learn a little more, and watch an intro video for each of these series at https://gracevcf.org/ministries/mens-ministry/. You can also get more info by contacting Jim Sliffe at 760-505-9414 or Michael Aplikowsky at 760-473-9177.
National Day of Prayer Thursday, May 6
For 70 years now, American presidents have been proclaiming the 1st Thursday of May as the official National Day of Prayer. We are planning an hour of prayer for our nation from 12 noon to 1pm just outside the Oceanside City Hall counsel chamber steps. This will be a fairly informal gathering, and we’d love to have as many people join us as can. There are other prayer events around the county, and you can probably find some of them at https://www.nationaldayofprayer.org/. If you can’t join us at Oceanside City Hall on May 6th, check out https://www.nationaldayofprayer.org/2021_national_observance for a livestream event you can join later in the evening at 5pm.
Activate Love Workshop Saturday May 29
Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 29th. I’ve invited our good friend Jamie Weston to put on another “Activate Love” event. This is an all day workshop on “becoming God’s Love out in public”. We’ve done these workshops. We will learn practical skills for listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit in our every day lives that will help turn our normal “hello’s” into “Holy Hello’s”. You’ve no doubt heard me talk about Michael Aplikowsky and team going out into the streets of Oceanside to meet, love, pray for, and tell folks about Jesus. This training will help all of us to do it more effectively. After a morning of training, we will go put into practice what we’ve been learning for a couple hours, then we’ll return to tell stories. There’s going to be a $25 charge for the day. We should have a registration site up and running before next week is up, so watch for an announcement, but for now, please save the date: Saturday, May 29th.
Lastly, let me take this opportunity to remind you married folks one more time about the upcoming Marriage Getaway in September:
2021 Marriage Getaway September 24-26
The annual marriage retreat is going to happen this year again, September 24-26 at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa. The Marriage Getaway has been a highlight of the year to many of us for the last decade. This year’s speakers are Bill and Pam Farrel. All the info and registration is at this link. Check out this promotional video:
These Marriage Getaways are extremely popular and could sell out very quickly, so register as soon as you can. Kim and I are registered, and we hope many more of you will be able to join us! Please note – thanks to some generous donations, 10 Military couples can now go on a full scholarship! If you are a military couple, let us know and we’ll tell you how to take advantage of this incredible gift!
And that’s it for this week’s update. I look forward to seeing you either online or in person this coming Sunday at 9:30am as we think together about The Greatness of the Gospel.
With blessings and love,
Tithes and Offerings Online
Thank you for your generosity and faithfulness! We could not do what we do without you. We believe God has chosen to meet the material needs of His church through the tithes and offerings of His people. (Tithe means literally 1/10 or 10% of our income). We encourage everybody to be committed to a church family, and if Grace Vineyard is where you are committed, we’ve provided this online tool for you; click on the “donate” button below to get started. (Note: if you’re giving an offering for the building fund or the benevolence fund in addition to your tithe, please mention that in the notes section after you land on our paypal page). THANKS for taking ownership in the life and ministry of Grace Vineyard – it takes all of us!
