Hello Grace Vineyard Family and Friends.
Last Sunday morning, June 22, I let you know that our children’s ministry A/C had died. This is in addition to the Upper Room (youth ministry) A/C system that also recently died, only this situation is more urgent because the Upper Room has windows that can be opened so we can cool the room with fresh air and fans, but the children’s ministry windows don’t open, so it can get uncomfortably warm in there. On Sunday I told you I would probably reach out soon with a repair cost to share with you, and that’s what I’m doing now.
Since that time, we’ve come across a time-critical solution.
The Bottom Line
The short version is that by acting right way we can solve the children’s ministry A/C problem for $8,500, but if we were to wait, it would cost us $13,000. (I’ll note that a very good friend of the ministry is giving us a major deal on labor, so using another commercial provider would be substantially more expensive).
The Details
The more detailed version goes like this — our HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning) system is an older generation system that you can no longer purchase, so to replace it we would need to buy a newer generation system that would require more material and work than would be required if we could just replace it with an older system. That’s where the $13,000 price tag came from. BUT, a time-critical solution has been found. Our HVAC friend just found out that his Supply Warehouse has a few older-generation models that they are selling on a first-come-first-served basis at a discount price. That’s where the $8,500 price tag comes from. Just to be clear, I’m talking $8,500 total cost for the unit, all materials, and all labor. Our HVAC friend tells us the units will be gone very quickly at this price, so that’s where the time-critical part comes in to play.
A Solution
We definitely want to act quickly so we save $4,500 by going with the $8,500 solution. This is where the Lord’s provision and generous people can come together to promptly take care of this need. I’m wondering if there are 8 people who have the capacity to give $1,000 each and another 5 people who have the capacity to give $100 each so that we could take care of our children’s needs quickly. That’s what we’d like to shoot for, but we also know that the Lord often uses the “widow’s mite” to meet the needs of His church, so He might want to take care of this need with lots of smaller gifts. We’ll gladly receive any size donation to meet this need.
My family is committing to the first $1,000 for our Grace Vineyard kids, so we can take care of this need with just 12 generous people – seven $1,000 donors and five $100 donors.. Please take a moment to think about and pray about this need and if you’d like to join us in taking advantage of this time-critical solution, please click on this donate button. (Please be assured that if it’s in your heart to give but you simply can’t afford $100, many smaller gifts would be appreciated just as much or even more than a few large donations.) On behalf of our little ones, THANK YOU!
with blessings and love,
Ron Ohst
