Hello Grace Vineyard and Friends!
It’s a chilly Friday night at my house. We are definitely starting to feel the Fall weather around here. How about that lightning and rain on Monday night?! I love it!
It’s time for my weekly update. So let’s get started.
Men’s Breakfast Saturday Morning
The first thing is our monthly men’s breakfast is Saturday, October 9, at 8am at our usual breakfast spot – Ty’s Burger House, 515 Mission Ave. This month Kent Franke will be our speaker. Come on out, guys, for a great time of food, fellowship, worship, and the Word. Always a great time.
Regional Men’s Event on Monday
Last month we had the Big Texas BBQ with men from churches in our region. This month we’re back at the same place with an Octoberfest kinda menu – it’s Brats, Sauerkraut, and Potato Salad. We’ll meet Monday, October 11th, at 6pm at the River Gardens, 390 Mimosa Ave, Vista.
Ladies Harbor Walk on Saturday at 9am
All ladies are invited to join us for a Harbor Walk this Saturday, October 9th, at 9am. We’ll meet at the free Parking Lot 1 Tunnel: 401 Riverside Dr, Oceanside. Please call or text Kathy Green at 760.583.1779 if you plan to attend.
Nehemiah Series Week 2
Last week we launched a new series in the book of Nehemiah that I’m calling “Taking Your Place When It’s Time To Build”. Nehemiah was a man who lived in the time when the Babylonian exiles were returning to Jerusalem, rebuilding the Temple, and rebuilding the City. He was called by the Lord to rebuild the broken walls of Jerusalem, and his memoirs tell a fascinating story of how he responded to God’s plan to rebuild. I believe we’ll find some practical lessons that are very applicable to our lives today as we respond to God’s call to take our place in His building projects – rebuilding and restoring broken lives and broken society by the power of His Spirit. I’d encourage you to listen to the podcast of last week’s talk cuz it had some important background information that sets the stage for the entire series. You can listen by clicking here at gracetalks.org
For week 2, we’ll watch Nehemiah cast a vision and launch a mission to rebuild the broken down walls of Jerusalem. He was an extremely effective leader, from whom we can learn many practical lessons for our lives today. We’ll be looking at Nehemiah 2:10-3:32, if you want to read ahead.
We’ll be live and in-person in our building at 9:30 on Sunday, and for those of you who can’t make it in person, you can join us online via Zoom at Zoom Meeting ID 153 112 432, Passcode 684814. We’ll also be broadcasting the service on Facebook Live at http://facebook.com/gracevcf.
New In-Person Home Group on Thursday Nights
This week we launched a new in-person home group. We gather together on Thursday nights at 7pm to worship, pray, read the Bible and hear from the Lord for each other at the Frye home 2044 Chestnut Ave. Carlsbad. Call Shannon for more info at 760-419-4242.
(Please note, we will be focused on unity and loving each other well by avoiding divisive topics such as politics and covid policy.)
Created for Community Women’s One Day Retreat
Saturday, November 6th from 9am to 4pm, we’ll have a women’s retreat at Grace Vineyard. Our theme is that we are Created for Community. Blair Fabry will be our speaker and Ammee Huzil will lead worship. This retreat will integrate many experiences in our journey toward life-giving community: teaching, worship, personal reflection, processing groups, creative expression. Cost for the day is $60 and includes a continental breakfast and lunch. If you’d like to pay online, here’s a link https://tinyurl.com/
And that’s about it for this week’s update.
It was so wonderful to worship with you last Sunday. Can’t wait to see you again in a couple of days. See you Sunday morning!
with blessings and love,
