Hello Grace Vineyard and friends of Grace Vineyard!

If the tech works correctly, you should be getting a text with a link to this email, or an actual email, on Friday morning.  I’m writing on Thursday, because when you are receiving this on Friday, our team (Traci Blagg, Michelle Ertel, Lisa Steenberg, Kim, Bryce, and myself) will be driving up to L.A.X. to board a flight for Lusaka Zambia, by way of Dubai.

If you’re one of those people who likes to watch the progress of flights, we’ll be on Emirates Flight EK 216 to Dubai, leaving L.A.X. at 4:40 PM on Friday.  It’s about a 16 hour flight.  We arrive in Dubai on July 23rd at 7:30 PM (Dubai time). Spend the night in Dubai, and then hop on the next flight at 9:25 AM, July 24. Again if you love to track peoples’ flight progress, that one is Flight EK 713 from Dubai to Lusaka, Zambia, where we will arrive on Sunday, July 24 at 2:35 PM (Zambia time).  We’re all starting to get excited about our adventure! If you’ve never taken the time to check out Breath of Heaven Children’s Village where were going in Zambia, maybe you can find time today — check it out at bofheaven.org.  Please keep us in prayer throughout our trip.  We’ll be serving around 100 orphans, plus the staff.  We’ll also be ministering at BridgePoint Vineyard Church, in Lusaka, within an hour’s drive from Breath of Heaven.  I’ve become friends with their pastor, Siseho Minyoi, who often comes to our Sunday Morning services via Facebook live, as well as our morning prayer meetings.  We’ll be encouraging their leaders, preaching at their Sunday morning service, and doing an evangelism outreach with them where we’ll have live music, preach the gospel, pray for the sick, and give out food and clothing.  Again, please join us in prayer for this ministry trip…prayer is so powerful and effective.

The Goodness of God

If you’ve been around the church on Sundays you’ve probably seen this cute little girl named SunnyRay.  That’s her grandfather, Dustin, holding her in this picture, and Dustin is a “Sunny Ray” himself.  He moved to Oceanside from Florida recently with his wife Nina, and daughter Chloe (who was still pregnant with SunnyRay) because they clearly heard from the Lord to come here to do ministry – especially church planting.  Soon after they arrived, SunnyRay’s father, Dakota, also moved to Oceanside, and has been such a blessing to so many of us around the church. I love this family! Interestingly, we are hearing this story repeated — people from other states hear the Lord tell them to move to Oceanside because of the outpouring of His Spirit that is coming to our city, with promises of many coming to faith and a need for many laborers in the Lord’s Harvest.  Isn’t that amazing?  (I’ve lived here 40 years now, and I don’t remember this every happening before).  Dustin has become a great friend and encourager, and I am so excited for you to hear him preach on Sunday.  He brings so much joy every where he goes, and every time I’m around him I find myself motivated and excited to love people in the power of the Spirit. Please make every effort to be there, cuz I’m confident that the Lord has a word for our congregation that He’s giving to Dustin.  You are going to be blessed! Dustin’s topic for Sunday is “The Goodness of God”.   We hope everyone who is able will be worshiping together in the building this Sunday starting at 9:30AM.  For those who need to stay home, join us online at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/153112432?pwd=WlJjbWZNeHo0NXBKM0VvbDkrYXV2QT09, Meeting ID: 153 112 432, Password: 684814.

Have You Been Baptized?

Have you been baptized since you started following Jesus?  If not, let’s take care of that before the summer’s over!  We actually don’t have a baptism scheduled right now, but if a couple of you respond, we’ll get one on the calendar ASAP.  Just know that everyone who chooses to follow Jesus is called to get baptized.  Here’s a great article I just found explaining the Biblical reasons for baptism that I would encourage you to read:  https://www.gotquestions.org/why-should-I-get-baptized.html.  If you’re thinking about getting baptized, or if you have more questions, send us an email at info@gracevcf.org, or text us at 760-754-2974, or give pastor Steve Rogers a call at 760-500-4324.  We’d love to talk more and encourage you in your growth as a follower of Jesus!

I’m gonna get back to prepping for our Zambia trip now.  I’m going to try to send you an email from Breath of Heaven next week if I can pull it off!  Until then, have a wonderful week, and be sure to come together on Sunday morning at 9:30 for worship, fellowship, inspiration with our special guest Dustin Nelson, and empowered prayer for each other.

See you all soon.

With blessings and love to each of you,

Ron Ohst
