July 8, 2022
Happy Friday Grace Vineyard and Friends,
July is shaping up to be a very full and rich month for us here at Grace Vineyard. We started our July Sundays out with such a great time last Sunday (July 3) when Fabiola Bellinger shared some of her testimony as we talked about “Restoring Lives – sharing the truth, love, and power of Jesus to heal and restore broken lives.” If you missed it, or would like to watch/hear it again, you can watch it on youtube here:
or listen on the gracetalks.org podcast. Fabiola’s story was so powerful and inspirational. Her story is a clear testimony of the power of the Gospel. The apostle Paul famously wrote “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes…” (Romans 1:16). That is the theme of this coming Sunday:
We are delighted to hear from our own pastor Steve Rogers this Sunday, so don’t miss it!
I’m sending this email rather late on Friday night, so depending on when you read your email on Saturday morning, the men may already be at breakfast and the ladies may already be doing their hike/walk. But just in case you get up early and could use the reminders, here’s the info you need:
Men’s Breakfast is This Saturday with Matt Evans
Men’s breakfast is already great with the delicious food, the great fellowship, and our worship together, but it’s especially GREAT when Matt Evans is speaking. Matt is such a treasure chest of wisdom and insight, and we are honored to have him as our special speaker this month. We meet at 8am at Ty’s Burger House, 515 Mission Ave, just around the corner from the church.
Monthly Saturday Ladies Walk is This Week
Ladies – please join Kathy Green and the other ladies for a beautiful hike/walk around the Oceanside Harbor, Saturday at 9am. Meet at the Parking Lot 1 tunnel, 401 Riverside Drive, Oceanside. If you’ll be joining the walk, please text/call Kathy Green at 760-583-1779 to let her know you’ll be joining.
Farewell Party for Kevin and Shannon Frye, July 10th
This Sunday Evening, July 10, at 6:30 PM we’ll have a Farewell Party for Kevin and Shannon Frye who have moved to Catalina Island. It’s a time to thank them for their years of service to the church. We will have a time of fellowship, refreshments, worship, and a time of sharing (open mic). Feel free to bring a personal card or sign a card that will be available that evening. This is my favorite kind of farewell because they are still so close and will still visit us from time to time, and we can visit them on beautiful Catalina Island! When the Bible speaks of people who are pillars in the church, it is speaking of people like the Fryes – really amazing people of outstanding character, spiritual gifts and strength, who are always building people up. I hope you’ll join us as we bless them in their new assignment on Catalina.
Potluck/Fellowship Lunch on July 17th
Continuing with another opportunity to grow in fellowship, our next Potluck/Fellowship lunch is July 17th, right after church. These are sweet times of hanging out together over delicious food. The delicious food part comes from YOU, since this is a potluck, so please see Susan Franke after church this Sunday to sign up for the food you’ll be bringing. We also need some volunteers for setup and cleanup, so let Susan know that you’d like to join the team. You can also text or call her at (760) 419-2273.
Mission to Zambia Begins July 22
In just 2 weeks our team will board a flight bound for Zambia by way of Dubai. Our primary work will be kids and the staff of Breath of Heaven Children’s Village (bofheaven.org). Thanks to all the people who supported our Zambia Fundraiser Dinner and a generous donation of 100 backpacks from Got Your Back San Diego we’ll be carrying 119 backpacks for the kids, plus soccer balls, volley balls, basket balls, playground balls, games, and piles of candy in our luggage! On our team is Michelle Ertel, Lisa Steenberg, Traci Blagg, Kim Ohst, Bryce Ohst, and myself. We’ll also be ministering at and with the Lusaka Vineyard church, a relatively new Vineyard church planted in the capital city. We’ll meet with their leadership team for some encouragement, I’ll preach at their Sunday morning service, and we’ll join them in an outdoor evangelism event near their church location with music (I’ll be playing keyboards for the band), preaching the Gospel, prayer for the needs of the people, and a give away of food and clothing. We need your prayers to support all of this ministry. Please begin to pray already and continue to pray for us continually while we are there. Our return flight is August 5th, and we should be back at Grace Vineyard for our August 7 Sunday morning service. We’re still trying to raise a few hundred dollars for helping the Lusaka Vineyard with some practical needs (actually, we could use about $500 more.) If just 10 of us gave $50 we’d be able to take care of that need. If that’s something you’d like to contribute to, just click here.
And that’s it for this week’s Grace Vineyard Weekly Update email. For Sunday morning, please join us in person at our beautiful theater, however if you can’t make it in person you can join us online via Zoom with this info: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/153112432?pwd=WlJjbWZNeHo0NXBKM0VvbDkrYXV2QT09, Meeting ID: 153 112 432, Password: 684814
Blessings and love to each of you,
