Happy July 4th Weekend to all you Grace Vineyard folks and friends of Grace Vineyard!
It has definitely felt like summer this week! I was just at the beach for Jesus Party a couple hours ago. It was a sweet time as always and we met a couple of new people who joined us, and we got to pray for them. Stop by any Friday night at 6:22pm by lifeguard tower #2 for some fellowship, time in the Word, sharing Jesus with people that walk by, and whatever the Holy Spirit might have in mind to bless us with. I definitely noticed the crowds on the beach are growing as summer is in full swing now. What a rich harvest field we live in! This weekend we’ll have fireworks for Oceanside’s birthday on July 3rd and for the United States’ birthday on July 4th, but I think we’ll also have some Fire Works the morning of July 3rd at Grace Vineyard – the works of the fire of the Holy Spirit! We’re going to finish off the 3 part series we began right before Father’s Day where we are unpacking some of the meaning behind our identity phrase “REAL GOD | REAL PEOPLE | RESTORING LIVES”. I’ve invited Fabiola Bellinger to share her story of how her life was radically transformed by Jesus as we talk about “Restoring Lives”:
This is one of those times where I really want to emphasize – invite friends who need to start a relationship with Jesus! On our website we describe the “Restoring Lives” theme like this:
Restoring Lives – Give it away. We freely share the truth, love and power of Jesus to heal and restore broken lives.
“For God was in Christ, restoring the world to himself, no longer counting men’s sins against them but blotting them out. This is the wonderful message he has given us to tell others. We are Christ’s ambassadors. God is using us to speak to you…”
– 2 Corinthians 5:19-20
This reminds us of our calling to share Jesus’ love and power with people all around us. Our dream is for people everywhere to know and worship God in all His goodness and glory, and that dream becomes reality every time another person invites Jesus into their lives. Would you stop right now and join me in praying for God to pour out His Spirit on our gathering, and particularly on Fabiola as she gives testimony to the love and power of God that restores broken lives! Pray that people who are not yet followers of Jesus will come and respond to the Gospel.
Here’s some more life giving activities I want to make sure you know about that are coming up in the next week or so:
Farewell Party for Kevin and Shannon Frye, July 10th
Sunday Evening, July 10, at 6:30 PM we’ll have a Farewell Party for Kevin and Shannon Frye who have moved to Catalina Island. It’s a time to thank them for their years of service to the church. We will have a time of fellowship, refreshments, worship, and a time of sharing (open mic). Feel free to bring a personal card or sign a card that will be available that evening. This is my favorite kind of farewell because they are still so close and will still visit us from time to time, and we can visit them on beautiful Catalina Island! When the Bible speaks of people who are pillars in the church, it is speaking of people like the Fryes – really amazing people of outstanding character, spiritual gifts and strength, who are always building people up. I hope you’ll join us as we bless them in their new assignment on Catalina.
Ladies Walk Saturday, July 9th
It’s time for our monthly Ladies walk/hike. Next Saturday morning, July 9th, at 9am the ladies will meet at the Oceanside Harbor Parking Lot 1 Tunnel, 401 Riverside Dr., Oside and walk in the Oceanside Harbor. Please text or call Kathy Green at 760-583-1779 to confirm that you plan to come.
Men’s Breakfast Saturday, June 9, 8am
Men, it’s time for our next monthly Men’s Breakfast at Ty’s Burgerhouse, right around the corner from the church at 515 Mission Ave. We have a great breakfast where we can reconnect with our brothers at Grace, we worship together, and then hear an inspiring word from one of the men – this month we have invited Matt Evans to be our speaker. Matt ALWAYS has something rich to give us from his storehouse of wisdom.
Potluck/Fellowship Lunch on July 17th
We’ve changed the date for our next Potluck/Fellowship lunch to July 17th, right after church. These are sweet times of hanging out together over delicious food. The delicious food part comes from YOU, since this is a potluck, so please see Susan Franke after church this Sunday to sign up for the food you’ll be bringing. We also need some volunteers for setup and cleanup, so let Susan know that you’d like to join the team. You can also text or call her at (760) 419-2273.
Sign up for the Breath of Heaven Golf Tournament
There’s just barely enough time for you to still sign up for the 7th annual Breath of Heaven Golf Tournament on July 11, 2022. Breath of Heaven is an amazing ministry that cares for orphans in Zambia Africa. Breath of Heaven is giving hope and a future to kids who were once without hope. I’m very excited this year as a team of us will be flying to Zambia on July 22 to serve at the Breath of Heaven Children’s Village. Check out the village at www.bofheaven.org. It is amazing what has been accomplished so far, but there is still a lot to be done, and building requires funding, so please sign up for the Golf Tournament ASAP by contacting Tom LaManna at firstname.lastname@example.org or calling/texting Tom at (951) 296-7530.
And that’s a wrap for this week’s Grace Vineyard Update. I hope to see you all on Sunday morning at 9:30. If you aren’t able to join us in person this week, you can also join us online via zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/153112432?pwd=WlJjbWZNeHo0NXBKM0VvbDkrYXV2QT09, Meeting ID: 153 112 432, Password: 684814
With love and blessings to each of you,
