Happy Friday, Grace Vineyard and Friends of Grace Vineyard,

It’s June!  And it’s beautiful. I don’t think I’ll ever stop exclaiming how blessed we are to live in San Diego!   Congratulations to all of you how are graduating this June, or have family members who are.  I’m not positive, but I think today, June 2nd, was the date of my high school graduation exactly 40 years ago. That makes me feel a bit nostalgic and extremely grateful as I take a quick glance back across the years.  I’m reminded just now of the lyrics from that song we’ve been singing together on Sundays, “The Goodness of God”.  “…All my life You have been faithful / All my life You have been so, so good / With every breath that I am able / Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God”.  It is so True!   The Lord has been faithful, and Oh So Good, my entire life, year after year, decade after decade.  And it makes me want to worship.  I’m already looking forward to gathering together with all of you on Sunday to lift our hearts with our voices and our hands in glorious worship to the King of Kings!

This Sunday I plan on looking to the Scriptures on the topic, “REAL GOD – Encountering the Glory and Goodness of God Together”.  I suspect you noticed the reference to the descriptive phrase in our church logo:

For those of you who aren’t aware, those 3 phrases – REAL GOD | REAL PEOPLE | RESTORING LIVES – are packed with meaning, straight out of the Bible, about who we believe God has made us to be, our vision for the future, and our mission for getting there.  As we begin to enter the summer season, I felt it would be good to remind ourselves of these foundations.  We summarize that first phrase like this:  Real God – God is alive! When we meet He shows up, and we experience Him through His Word, His Spirit and each other. “For where two or three have gathered together in My name, there I am in their midst.” – Matthew 18:20 NASB  My plan is to spend the next 3 Sundays exploring each of these themes (“Real God”, “Real People”, and “Restoring Lives”).  Honestly, we could spend a lot more time than that unpacking all the meaning behind these words!  It’s been exciting to watch so many of us freshly recommit to our calling as a church community, and I’m expecting we’ll see more and more fruitfulness as we walk this path together.

Fellowship Lunch This Sunday After Church

I’m really looking forward to the joy of fellowship around a meal that we will experience this coming Sunday!  I know that a bunch of you signed up with Susan Franke the last few Sundays.  A big thank you to Susan for organizing this.  Please plan on sticking around after church so we can all share a meal together.  If you didn’t sign up to bring something in particular, you might give Susan a quick call to see if there is something specific we could use for our lunch – (760) 419-2273‬.

Vineyard Regional Conference June 23-25

I wanted to remind you all one more time about the Vineyard regional conference that is coming up on June 23-25th at Inland Vineyard Church in Corona, CA.  Find all the information and register at https://www.inlandvineyard.org/regional-conference.  It really is getting close, so I encourage you to register ASAP.  Kim and I are going, and I hope a bunch of you will join us.  Many of you don’t know a lot about the Vineyard movement that our church is part of, and I think you’ll be really inspired and filled with vision for the future as we come together with our Vineyard family from Central and Southern California.  This conference has something for everybody in the family – a separate Youth Conference, and programming for the children.

Zambia Fundraiser Dinner and Raffle

I also wanted to remind you that our Fundraiser Dinner & Raffle for Zambian orphans at Breath of Heaven Children’s Village is happening this coming Monday, June 6th at Ty’s Burgerhouse.  Michelle Ertel and Lisa Steenberg will be at a table in the lobby after church this Sunday to sell you your $15 ticket for dinner.  We’re also gonna have a raffle with some great prizes that we are collecting.  We’ll have the raffle tickets available Sunday so you can get in on the raffle even before the dinner. 100% of the proceeds will go to support the kids at Breath of Heaven Children’s Village where a team of us including Michelle Ertel, Lisa Steenberg, Kim (Ohst), Bryce (Ohst), and myself will be serving in July.

I think that’s about it for upcoming events I wanted to make sure you know about.  God bless you richly this weekend.  I’ll see you Sunday morning.  If you need to join us online instead of in-person, you can do so on zoom.  Here’s the usual zoom info for your convenience: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/153112432?pwd=WlJjbWZNeHo0NXBKM0VvbDkrYXV2QT09, Meeting ID: 153 112 432, Password: 684814)

Much love and blessing to each of you,

Ron Ohst
