Hello Grace Vineyard and Friends of Grace Vineyard!
It’s another great weekend. Tonight I decided to drop in on Jesus Party at down at the beach just north of the pier. Our great friends Dustin and Nina Nelson have a vision to plant churches along the coast and in the Skater Culture, and they call them Jesus Parties, which I think is a great name!
If you’re ever free on a Friday night, they meet at 6:22pm just north of the Pier. You could check them out , plus you have another place to invite people to when you are engaging in Holy Hellos this week. When I got home from the beach tonight, my daughter Charissa arrived from UCSB for the weekend. I’m a happy Dad! I think she is planning on coming to church this Sunday, so give her a big hello if you see her. And that’s how my great weekend started. I hope you’re weekend is starting on a high note too.
Here’s some happenings at Grace Vineyard that you’ll want to know about
New Ladies Bible Study “Find Your People”
The Ladies are launching a new Bible Study called “Find Your People” in June. There will be an in-person meeting on Mondays beginning June 13th, from 6:30-8pm, or you can come to the Saturday 8-9am Zoom meeting beginning on June 13th. You’ll need to purchase a workbook for $20, and the deadline to sign up is this Sunday, May 29th. There will be a sign up table in the lobby this Sunday. If you have any questions, contact Kim Ohst at 760-519-4558, or email@example.com. Check out this video intro to get a feel for what the study is all about:
Support Grace Women’s Ministries This Sunday
After church this Sunday we will have a “Make and Bake” Sale to raise funds for the women’s ministries at Grace. Here are 2 ways to support Grace Vineyard Women’s Ministries: 1) come ready to buy all the food and creative items they are selling (hint – Kim is making her famous homemade salsa AND pesto and they usually sell out quickly; maybe we should start a bidding war!) and 2) make or create something to sell – contact Kim for any info you need at 760-519-4558 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Zambia Fundraiser Dinner and Raffle
On June 6th we have another way to enjoy some great fellowship AND raise money for orphans in Zambia. We’re putting on a Fundraiser Dinner & Raffle on Monday, June 6th at Ty’s Burgerhouse. Michelle Ertel and Lisa Steenberg will be at a table in the lobby after church this Sunday to sell you your $15 ticket for dinner. We’re also gonna have a raffle with some great prizes that we are collecting. We’ll have raffle tickets available this Sunday so you can get in on the raffle even before the dinner. 100% of the proceeds will go to support the kids at Breath of Heaven Children’s Village where a team of us including Michelle Ertel, Lisa Steenberg, Kim (Ohst), Bryce (Ohst), and myself will be serving in July.
Women’s Retreat October 21-23
We’re going to Pine Valley this year. More details will be released in the coming months, but we wanted to give you the pricing so you can begin to save for the retreat. You can make payments weekly or monthly. just be sure to make note that the payment is for the retreat when you contribute online or in person at church. Costs: $210 private bath lodge, $190 shared bath lodge, $165 dorm room.
Southern California Vineyard Regional Retreat
The Central and Southern California regional conference is coming up on June 23-25th at Inland Vineyard Church in Corona, CA. It’s time to get together with our Vineyard family here in California! We’ll worship, enjoy who we are as the Vineyard, pray for one another, and laugh and connect as we always have. Find all the information and register at https://www.inlandvineyard.org/regional-conference. It really is getting close, so I encourage you to register ASAP. I have, and I hope a bunch of you will join me for a really great conference together. Many of you don’t know a lot about the Vineyard movement that our church is part of, and I think you’ll be really inspired and filled with vision for the future as we come together with our Vineyard family from Central and Southern California.
Sunday Morning – The Prayer That Jesus Taught
It was really fun last Sunday to have so much interaction with you as we continued exploring the topic “Prayer Empowered Living”. We started out by having Kent Franke share his process of seeking the Lord in prayer for direction, then in our teaching time several of you in the congregation got involved in the conversation. You can listen to the recording of last Sunday at gracetalks.org, or right here:
This Sunday we’re going to keep diving into practical ways we can grow in our prayer life by talking about the model prayer that Jesus taught the disciples when they approached Him with a request to teach them how to pray. I hope you’ll join us at 9:30 for worship. If you can’t join us in person this week, you can join us online on Zoom with this info: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/153112432?pwd=WlJjbWZNeHo0NXBKM0VvbDkrYXV2QT09, Meeting ID: 153 112 432, Password: 684814 .
And that’s it for this week’s email update. Love and blessings to each of you,
