May 6, 2022

Hello Grace Vineyard and Friends.   It’s time for our next weekly update email.

First, let me start by wishing all the Moms a Very Happy Mother’s Day!

We hope all the Grace Vineyard Moms can be with us on Sunday. We’ll be giving out roses to honor each of the Moms in our morning worship service.

Keeping with the theme of Mother’s Day, I’m putting together a message based on the power of praying moms — “What We Can All Learn From the Power of a Praying Mom” is the title.  It feels as though the Lord is stirring up prayer amongst us, and I want to look to the scriptures to remind us of the incredible power of prayer. Our morning online prayer group keeps seeing answers to prayer, and it’s very encouraging.  The Oceanside House of Prayer is just getting going on the 1st & 3rd Monday nights and every Thursday at noon, and we’ve been praying and fasting after church on Sundays for the past couple of weeks and seeing answers already to those prayer times.   Let’s pay attention to what the Father is blessing right now and press in!

Here are some upcoming events that I want to make sure everyone is aware of so we can dive into fellowship together:

Women’s Ministry Make & Bake Sale May 29

Our Women’s Ministry is going to be putting on another Make & Bake sale at the end of the month to raise funds for Women’s Ministry.  But it’s not just women that are doing the making and baking, it’s everyone!  Got a cool craft idea that you could donate? Are you famous for your home made salsa?  Wanna play it safe with your delicious oatmeal cookie recipe?  Contact Kim Ohst at 760-519-4558 or kimohst@gmail.com and help support the Women of Grace.

Men’s Breakfast is Next Saturday, May 14

Men – it’s time once again for another of our famous Men’s Breakfasts at Ty’s Burger House.  Once you taste the biscuits and gravy, you’re gonna have a hard time resisting.  Bacon, of course, is the secret ingredient that makes it all delicious.  This month we are gonna hear from our own Steve Rogers!  Fellowship, Food, Worship, Word.  Guys – we’d really love for you to join us and get to know the brothers at Grace better.  We have a pretty amazing community!

Women’s Hike Next Saturday, May 14

While the men are chowing down on biscuits and gravy, our ladies will have a slightly healthier way of fellowshipping.  On the 2nd Saturday of every month Kathy Green leads a ladies walk/hike at 9am.  The details are not quite ready as I’m writing this email, so you’ll need to watch for a future email or just reach out to Kathy at 760-583-1779 and get the details from her.  This is a great way to enjoy the beauty of God’s creation while enjoying the beauty of friendship with the Women of Grace.

Breath of Heaven Golf Tournament

All you golfers, it’s time to put the annual Breath of Heaven Golf Tournament on your calendars for July 11.  This is one of our major fundraisers to help take care of Zambia’s orphans. You’ll have a great day of golf, compete for great prizes, enjoy a delicious Buffet, and hear some inspiring stories about our work giving hope and a future to orphans right in the center of Africa.  Please check out the Breath of Heaven website at www.bofheaven.org.  This is an amazing ministry, and I’m very excited to tell you that a team from Grace Vineyard will be serving there this summer at the end of July.  Our team is Michelle Ertel, Traci Blagg, Lisa Steenberg, and Kim, Ron, and Bryce Ohst.  You’ll probably hear more about that trip in coming weeks as well.

And that’s it for this week’s update.  Looking forward to seeing you all Sunday morning.  We’ll be in person at 9:30 in our beautiful theater.  For those who need to stay home, you can join us online via Zoom at Meeting ID: 812 2225 0027, Password: 006314.

With love and blessing to each of you (especially the Moms this week!),

Ron Ohst
