Happy Friday, Grace Vineyard Family and Friends!

Can I just say how much I’ve been enjoying the time I get to spend with you all? And I mean everything from when we’re all together on Sundays, to our small groups, to the times I get to be with you one – on – one.   It feels like our shared worship experiences keep having a greater sense of the Holy Spirit’s Presence as time goes on.  And can I let you in on a little secret — while there’s no question that we have some great worship leaders, the truth is that without a worshiping congregation, even the greatest worship leader is not going to get very far; you are a worshipping congregation (!) and your hunger for the Presence of the Lord in partnership with our very gifted worship leaders is resulting in gatherings that are so strongly marked by the Presence of the Holy Spirit! Last Sunday with you was awesome.  And last night at the Thursday night home group the ministry was just phenomenal in terms of His giving of spiritual gifts for the building up of each other.  What a joy to be part of this community with you. Let’s keep coming together hungry and expectant to encounter the Living God in life changing ways.

Now, let me get to practical stuff of this weekly update.  First, some of you look to this weekly email for a link to listen to or watch the most recent Sunday sermon on our GraceTalks podcast or our YouTube channel.  Last Sunday we talked about the Shield of Faith.  Here are those links:

Sunday: Letting God out of the God Box

I bet that title got your attention.  Kent Franke is one of our gifted teachers, and he recently shared with me a teaching that the Lord has been brewing in him for a bit.  I’ve invited him to share it with us this coming Sunday.  Together we’ll learn how to free ourselves from the box of misunderstanding we often place God in.  To get started, just meditate on this nugget from the Bible for a minute or two: “God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than we could ask or think.” (Ephesians 3:20)  This is going to be great.  Here’s a challenge for some of us — see if you can make it your goal to be in your seat before 9:30 this week so you don’t miss out on even one minute of worship (and so the rest of us don’t miss out on what happens for all of us when you are in the room engaging your heart with the Lord;  believe it or not, we are incomplete without you. You make a difference!)

If you are not able to be with us in person for some reason, you can always join online via the Zoom app with this info:  Zoom Meeting ID  153 112 432, Passcode 684814. You may also join us on Facebook Live at facebook.com/gracevcf.

Prayer Walk After Church This Sunday

This coming Sunday (April 14) is the second Sunday of the month, and that means it’s time for our monthly prayer meeting. I cannot remind myself enough how powerfully effective prayer is!  God in His sovereignty has created a world where the prayers of His people absolutely change things.  This month we’re going to do things a little differently – instead of praying in the building, we are going to walk and pray, so wear your walking shoes.  Meet on the terrace after church where Sharon Evans will give us just  little bit of instruction, and then we’ll walk and pray for 1 hour.

National Day of Prayer

Speaking of prayer…  Every year on the first Thursday of May people across the United States gather together to pray for our nation.  This year, on May 2 at 6:00 PM we will be meeting at the El Corazon Senior Center Courtyard, 3302 Senior Center Dr, Oceanside,  with people from all over Oceanside to pray.  Several of us local pastors will be leading out in prayer for various topics.  I hope you’ll join me!

Men’s Breakfast this Saturday, April 13

It’s time for another men’s breakfast, and this week I’m happy to let you know that Tim Parlier, pastor of Generation Church, will be our speaker.    Men, join us at 8am at Ty’s Burgerhouse at 515 Mission Ave (just around the corner from the church).  The food is always great, and the worship, fellowship, and teaching is always a great encouragement.

Soaking Worship and Prayer Sunday Night

Everyone is invited for a special Sunday Evening worship service — join us for intimate unstructured worship and song, prayer and ministry 💕 Hope to see you this Sunday at 6 pm!

All Things New Women’s Tea April 27

We’ll be having a ladies tea on Saturday, April 27th from 1-4pm at the church.  Sandi Stauffer, leader of Beauty for Ashes ministry, will be our speaker.  Tickets are $20.   You can sign up in the lobby to set and host a table, bring food or dessert, and help with set up or clean up.  Please call Kim Ohst if you have any questions 760.519.4558.   Tea Set Up Friday, April 26th:  We’d love to have many hands help us set up for the women’s tea.  We’ll meet at the church Friday 12pm to set up.  Please call Kim at 760.519.4558 if you are able to help.

I think that’s everything I wanted to tell you about for this week.  Let’s keep pressing in to our relationship with the Lord and into His mission for our lives!

Blessings and love to each of you,

Ron Ohst
