Hello Grace Vineyard Family and Friends!

It’s time for our weekly update email.

Yesterday, of course, was Leap Day, that special 29th of February that comes around every 4 years.  I gotta share a fun little story with you.  I have a nephew named Christian who was born on Leap Day.  He and his wife began expecting their 1st child, a son, about 9 months ago and his due date was February 27th. Everybody thought how fun it would be if their baby was a couple days late and they had another Leap Day birthday in the family.  Well it happened.  Alexander Jonathan Ohst was born yesterday on Leap Day.  🙂  Thought you’d enjoy that.

Newcomer’s Lunch This Sunday After Church

We’ve been noticing several faces on Sunday mornings over the last few months, so we decided to put on a luncheon so we can get to know each other better.  If you’d like to come, could you send an email to info@gracevcf.org or send a text to 760-754-2974 right away (so we can make sure to have enough food)?  There’s no time limit to what makes you “new”, so if you feel like you’re relatively new, or if you’ve never been to a newcomer luncheon, or if you’d just like to get to know me and some of our ministry leaders better, or even just have a chance to ask some questions about the church, please  join us!

Fighting The Good Fight of Faith

A few weeks ago we started studying the theme of “Fighting The Good Fight of the Faith” on Sunday Mornings.  I feel like we need to go another round (sorry for the pun).  This week we’ll open up Ephesians 6 to read the famous passage on the “armor of God” and learn some important principles for our lives.  Followers of Jesus have found inspiration from this important chapter of God’s Word in every generation for the last couple thousand years!  I believe we’ll have the same experience as our forefathers.

Ephesians 6:10-18

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Last Sunday I talked about taking an offense posture (in contrast to a defensive posture) in the good fight of the faith.  If you’d like to hear that sermon again, we’ve put it our YouTube channel, and you can see it right here:

Men’s Breakfast and Ladies Walk on the 2nd Saturday

Since tomorrow is March 2nd, I just want to remind you that it’s NOT the Saturday for our monthly men’s breakfast and ladies walk/hike.  We have those events on the 2nd Saturday of every month. I’ll give you the info for those next week.

I look forward to seeing you again this Sunday morning.  Some of you who need to join us online look for the zoom info in my weekly email, so here’ you go:   Zoom Meeting ID  153 112 432, Passcode 684814. You may also join us on Facebook Live at facebook.com/gracevcf.  I do hope you’ll try to come in person if you are able, cuz it’s just so nice to be all together for worship and ministry time!

Have a great Saturday!

With love and blessings to each of you,

Ron Ohst
