Happy Valentines Day, Grace Vineyard Family and Friends!
I hope you all know you are loved on Valentine’s day, and every day.
I’m looking forward to another great weekend with you, so here’s our weekly update with all the latest things you wanna know.
Jesus Walk Saturday Morning
I’m so happy to let you know that another Jesus Walk is happening this Saturday. Meet at the Oceanside Parking Structure at the corner of Seagaze and Cleveland for some Walk, Worship, and Encounter. It’s really quite simple – we walk on the strand, have some moments of worship if one of our worship people joins us, we say hi to people, and those hello’s turn into “Holy Hello’s” which turns into Encounters with God. Couldn’t be more simple and more fun. I hope to hear stories of new people who show up for their first Jesus Walk with Grace Vineyard! If you have any questions, contact Mark Newell at 760-715-1611.
Guest Worship Band from North Coast Calvary this Sunday
Our highly loved worship leader, Ammee, is on sabbatical (she is experiencing some wonderful rest and creative opportunities, by the way), and this week I am very excited that the worship band from North Coast Calvary Chapel is coming to lead us in worship. You’ll recognize some of the band members — Willie Register (one of our first youth pastors back in the early 2000’s, and also one of our most beloved worship leaders), Roy and Christina Inzunza (dear friends who have led here before), Tim Wolf (Tim’s parent’s, Rick and Kim, helped plant our church), and more. These are all highly skilled musicians, who are full of the Spirit and love to worship Jesus. This would be a good Sunday for everyone to be early cuz you won’t want to miss one minute — try get here by 9:25, so you are ready to worship on the first note at 9:30 sharp!
God’s Empowering Presence, Week 2
Last week I began to teach on needing and pursuing God’s Empowering Presence for life and ministry. We’re talking about the infilling of the Holy Spirit. This week I want to continue where we left off, and grow in our understanding of the big biblical picture of God’s plan for dwelling with His people, in and intimate and powerful relationship. He’s always been present from the first moments of creation, but the Bible makes it pretty clear that He save the best for last…and we are recipients of the best! I think you’ll enjoy and be encouraged to explore this topic with me. See you at 9:25. If you can’t be with us in person, here’s the link for the Zoom channel: Zoom Meeting ID 153 112 432, Passcode 684814, and here’s where you would go for the Facebook Live channel: facebook.com/gracevcf.
Here’s the sermon from last week in case you’d like to listen again:
Baptism February 23, During Sunday Service
We are planning on having baptisms during our Sunday morning service on February 23. (The water will be heated, in case your wondering!) If you are a follower of Jesus, but have not yet been baptized, this is for you.
Acts 2:36-38
36 “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”
37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.
Talk to pastor Steve Rogers to sign up. You can reach him at srogers@gracevcf.org or 760-500-4324. It really is important that you confirm with pastor Steve as soon as possible.
Two New Women’s Groups
Women, we are about to launch 2 new small groups. Here’s the details:
Breathe Priscilla Shirer Study Begins March 3
Women’s Skills Group Begins March 3
This group takes participants through a transformative, restorative process using the Restoration Therapy model of the Pain and Peace Cycle. The material is based on scripture and helps you understand your new identity in Christ. It looks at negative Family of Origin patterns and provides healing through forgiveness and repair. It will meet Monday nights 6:30-8:30pm at the church. Cost is $50 for the book. Sign up at the table in the lobby after Sunday service or call/text Lisa Rogers for more information 760.696.1994.
Men’s Retreat is Next Month!
This year we’ll be back at Palomar Christian Conference Center. We love doing retreats there! BUT IT’S ONLY 1 MONTH AWAY, SO REGISTER THIS WEEK! It starts Friday night, March 14th, and continues through Sunday morning, March 16. Men, these are always great times with each other and the Lord. There’s a great mix of outdoor activities and inspiring times of worship and teaching. Ladies – if you have a man in your life, give him a push, cuz he’ll probably come back from the mountain better than when you sent him up! Find Snake in the lobby this Sunday morning to get signed up and find out all the details.
That’s all for now. This Saturday’s Jesus Walk is going to be AWESOME! This Sunday’s worship with NCCC Worship Band is going to be AWESOME! Baptisms are always AWESOME! The men’s retreat is going to be AWESOME! (can you tell I like the word “awesome”?!! 🙂 ) I hope you’ll dive into all the opportunities for doing life and mission together with us.
Have a great weekend, and remember how much you are loved by your Father in Heaven and your Grace Vineyard Family.
Blessings,
Ron Ohst
