Discipleship Training and Support
Matthew 28:19-20
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (NIV)
Missionaries Jose and Fiona are doing the work of the Lord in a nation that is hostile to God and have been working under the radar for the past 15 years. They must operate discretely with the threat of expulsion ever-present. They are watched. They are followed. They are objects of scrutiny by government officials. They are unstoppable.
Why would they leave their comfortable, safe home and put themselves in danger? “God called us, so we went!”
Jose and Fiona have dedicated their lives to serving God. When they heard the call, they sold everything they owned, moved halfway around the world, and now offer the Gospel, prayer, teaching, practical assistance and love to the sick, lonely, broken-hearted, lost and abandoned people in the Far East who have captured their hearts. They trust in the Lord for their every need.
Jose and Fiona did not go to seminary, they are ordinary people who heard a call from God and obeyed. Just as Peter, an uneducated fisherman, was called from his boat to follow Christ, so, too, are Jose and Fiona.
